14 ways for me to leave your blog

I am leaving

One of my favorite past time besides maintaining my blog is reading other blogs in the blogosphere. Apart from those blogs that i pay visit regularly, i like to explore other blogs too. There is several advantages in reading other blogs.

- I can generate post ideas when reading other blogs.

- I can learn from the other blogger.

- I can network and build a relationship with him.

I felt so excited whenever i come across a new blog which attracts me immediately once i landed on his home page. The design is great, the content is of the highest quality and i have no problem in finding what i want. However if you have the intention to chase me away, you don’t have  to tell me. I can tell from your actions. I will leave your site if :

1. You are having your coffee now and it takes me one minute to enter your site.

2 You don’t like me to follow you, that’s why i can’t find the Twitter icon.

3. You are a fan of Picasso, your site is so colorful.

4. You don’t like to send your posts to me through email, i don’t have to give you my email address.

5. You are anti-social, you don’t care what i am commenting here.

6. You like to help people in having sweet dreams, you make me yawn.

7. You like puzzle, you want me to search high and low for the things i want.

8. You got lots of advertisement for me to choose from, but i don’t know what to buy.

9. You introduce your favorite song to me, but sorry i don’t like to watch music video in a small screen.

10. You are extremely busy, i have read the same post for X times that i can memorize.

11. You keep reminding me to sign up, i know i am forgetful. Just one reminder is enough.

12. You like cursive typography, i had a hard time figure out what you are trying to tell me.

13. You are a fan of flash intros, but my eyes are hurting.

14. You love only internet explorer, sorry i am a fan of Google Chrome.

Hopefully I have informed you on the action that you need to take if you don’t want me to visit your site. I wish i could stay long enough to explore what you you are up to under your sleeves. But i don’t think i am welcome here. Before i can get near to you, i am thrown out. I hope you can attract others who is magnanimous enough to stay with you.

Just as Sourav said, the writing style of this post is awesome. With regards to browsers you ought to chill a little as it can be quite difficult to make a theme compatible across multiple browsers. I mainly check my blog against Chrome, Firefox, Opera, IE and Safari and so far so good, I can’t complain.

I must admit that my having ads above the fold might be too much but it’s just my way of kind of increasing the fee I charge for advertising as ads in the above the fold space get more clicks.

          Hi Udegbunam,

I understand you point that we can’t satisfy everybody but at least we need to cater for the majority.

Though ads are a concern but as long as you are doing to your best benefits, then it’s fine.

Thanks for visiting and the comments.

      Hi Samuel,

Haha, to be frank i think #6 is the best one that i come out with. Glad you like it. Actually i am just thinking of interpret the title with another way of presenting, the idea itself has been talked in the blogosphere. Such as slow loading, poor design etc. Though repeating but i like to try on a humor side of writing the post. That’s how i come out with that.

    Hi Lye

This is so very true. I too love #6. Long, mundane posts that tell rather than show are a major turn off. I would have added pop-ups to this list. I get rather annoyed when I visit a blog and a pop-up appears tying to get me to subscribe. Yuk!

    Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Michael,

Thanks bro, glad you like #6. I believe we have nothing against pop ups, but as i mentioned above just one reminder is enough. I also don’t like to see them keep appearing while i am reading or browsing the site.

    Really great post Lye,

What makes me not to visit a site again is the lack of email subscriptions, I love to subscribe to a blog via email because it is the only medium I check regularly, but if that is missing then I rarely visit that site again.

Thanks a lot for the great post!

    Hi Oni,

You are right, not only the RSS icon sometimes people like to subscribe through email. You need to cater for everyone and not just a particular group of people.
