While you are blogging in whatever niche you are in, tendency there are a lot of blogging tips circulating in the blogosphere. Too many advices will confuse you and cause you to have overload information. You simply don’t have to know all, just a few important ones that are going to help your blog if you follow the advice closely.
I am very excited to present you this post today. Few days ago, I sent an email to 6(7 now) respective bloggers asking them whether they can spare sometime to answer my question to them. All of them are really helpful and they replied immediately. Why did I pose the question to them? The reason is they are an inspiration to me. Each of them excels with their blog respectively. You will be highly motivated as you can see how much time and effort they have put to make their blog a success.
I was actually inspired by Rob Rammuny’s entrepreneur project to do this post. My main purpose is to gather the best advice of the bloggers who inspired me to provide you with a smoother blogging journey. Trust me, their advice is solid and you won’t regret reading them. Let’s jump right in shall we?
Here is my question to them:
Which 5 blogging tips do you think is the most important to you?
Onibalusi Bamidele from Youngprepro.com says:
1. Build Your Audience – focus on getting traffic
2. Write Valuable Content
3. Focus on Subscribers – repeat traffic is important
4. Be Consistent – Don’t blog irregularly
5. Always be ready for change
Michele Welch from Newbizblogger.com says:
1. Strive for excellence every time you create content!
2. Create and nurture relationships with other bloggers.
3. Determine which Social Networking tools work best for you and develop those mediums.
4. Engage your readers in order to create a community.
5. Use content syndication tools such as TubeMogul and Article Marketing to maximize your reach and build traffic.
Samuel Ayodele from Megabizflakes.com says:
1. Valuable Content: To me valuable content is one of the most important blogging tips and not just any how content. That’s why I said valuable content. Content that can add value to somebody’s life if you are able to provide it; you will be a successful blogger.
2. Networking: If not for networking, I wouldn’t have gone that far. Though am not saying am an A-list blogger, No! Am still on the journey, but with what have achieved I’m proud to tell you that networking is part of blogging tips that can make you succeed in the blogosphere. It’s not compulsory you network with A list bloggers, you can network with other bloggers too so that you can break new grounds together. For me, I don’t network that much with A list bloggers but I do network with future A list bloggers and am getting positive result from them.
3. Effective Marketing: Effective marking is mandatory in the blogosphere, if you want to break new grounds. You don’t need to spam the whole earth claiming that you are promoting your blog. I doubt if you will yield positive result. So if you are going to promote your blog, make sure you promote it in a nice manner that will help your blog.
4. Learn To Socialize: You should learn how to socialize with your readers, be sociable because if you don’t know how to do that, it won’t help your blog. Socialize with your readers and let them know that you are the person that fits to be in charge of the vault. Don’t let gurus tell you that it’s not necessary for you to socialize with your readers. It’s a lie. Socialize with them so that you can get the best.
5. Patient: Don’t be surprise that patient is part of the most important blogging tips you need. If you are not patient enough on the blogosphere you will give up. One thing I want to point out is that “The blogosphere is not a get rich scheme” and don’t let anyone deceive you that you can earn fast money on the blogosphere. I urge you to embrace the spirit of patience so that you can move mountains. If you are able to exercise patience, one day you will smile to the bank.
Thu Nguyen from Bloggingfor.info says:
1. Be consistent with what you put out: At least on a weekly basis. Any day you neglect to think about blogging, you will fall off quick, especially with writing. So even if you aren’t writing content, keep a notebook of topic ideas so you can refer to when you do sit down and knuckle out some pieces. This way you won’t ever run into writer’s block.
2. Always think about marketing as a means to connect: In the beginning, I didn’t do much of blog marketing because I got this impression that promoting yourself was an ego-trip. It wasn’t until I started promoting other bloggers that I saw blogging as a way to build relationships. Thus, part of your marketing efforts should include a variety of yours, your friends and interesting new bloggers articles. Always think about creating meaningful interactions.
3. Write what you know with passion and be honest: Show what you’re weak at. I’m certainly not a superwoman but some days, I feel like taking on the blogosphere just because I want to be on top. Other times, I’ll admit, I’ve been beaten to writing about something. It’s just all fun in the community. Go at your own pace. Don’t burn out.
4. Don’t be afraid of change: The vision I had for blogging was more of a selfish gain. When I found myself willing to share tips, tricks, strategy and tactics on the things I’ve done online to get by, it made me feel good. So now, blogging isn’t about self-gain, it’s about reaching out, influence, building meaningful connections. It has even made me a better person overall. Thus, you want to at least take some risks. Start by saying ‘Hello!’
5. Be you and have fun: I’m normally a reserve person but when there are new comments on posts I’ve written and even some great insights. I just have to say something back. It puts a big smile on my face and even makes me cheesy. So the blogging community overall is supportive of one another and if everyone know who you are, it’s one big party!
Adam Paudyal from Endeavor-online.com says:
1. Blogging with my own voice: One of the greatest blogging tips that is very important to me is being myself. With blogs sprouting like mushrooms left and right, a blogger has to discover his/her own voice and identity to stand out of the crowd. Many newbie bloggers make their blogging endeavor way too hard by trying to sound like a pro-blogger. Even I am guilty about this at times. But blogging can be a whole lot of fun if you show your own personality. This is very essential to have any success with blogging.
2. Don’t be scared of failures: I have failed plenty of times; sometimes miserably and still continue to fail time and time again. Hell, everybody fails no matter who they are. But, if one is scared of failing, he/she will never be able to taste success. There is no success without failures. Don’t let the fear of failing hold you back. Go head on. Challenge yourself, Trash it, Thrash it, Crush it…do whatever it takes.
3. Build relations: If you look at it, blogging is really about networking and building relations. Relations is in fact, the greatest benefit of blogging. Don’t hesitate to build relations with other successful bloggers. And don’t forget to build relations with your core audience as well. Use the power of networking as a leverage to take your blog to the next level. So, Be active. Be out there. Be everywhere!
4. Don’t stress too much looking for a niche that you are really passionate about: One of the problems I had when I first started blogging was that I really wanted to find a passionate topic to blog about. Being passionate on the topic is essential but passion can always be generated if you start seeing the results of your hard work. So, don’t stress too much looking for a passionate topic. In other words, let the passion come to you.
5. Create a system: Another tip that makes a huge difference between success and failure is constructing a system that works. Find out what works the best for you and exploit the hell out of it. Make it work for you time and time again. A system can be as simple as creating your blogging schedule that you can religiously stick to, day in and day out. This is essential to be efficient and productive while blogging.
DiTesco from Iblogzone.com says:
1. Topic: Pretty simple but complex at the same time. Ideally, you should choose a topic that you are good at or something that is of great interest to you. If you like photography, blog about it and have fun. The more fun you have the easier it is to blog about it. Start low and work your way up, meaning, select a niche within a niche as it is better to gain credibility this way. The broader the topic, the harder it gets to blog about it as your competition will likely be larger.
2. Content And Uniqueness: Blogs are no longer “personal agendas” and they are created to provide value to visitors who are interested in a particular topic. This is where your expertise or interest comes into play. Write original and unique content and make sure that you do it regularly. Remember, original is something you yourself have written. You can research about it (recommended) and then write it in your own words, your own voice with your own views and opinion. This is in essence is what makes your content unique.
3. Branding and building Relationships: When you are in the beginning, selecting a platform is equally important. You can start for example with a free platform, such as blogger, and then move later to WordPress when your business attains a new level. The one thing that I highly recommend in the very beginning is to get your own custom domain name and create a brand. It can be your name, an alias, whatever. Brand yourself at the earliest stage and stick to it. Building relationships through the various social media platforms, or by guest posting, commenting, etc. You want people to be able to associate your brand with “something” and this is what you are looking for, exposure and credibility.
4. SEO: Many will disagree and often times these are the ones that do it all the time
. SEO is not to complicated and it is strongly recommended that you optimize your website in the very beginning. For example, in many cases, if you choose the right theme (template and CMS platform), most of the work is done automatically. You will still need some basics and for this you can read the only free guide that I recommend, which is the best SEO tips ever by Google.
5. Action: By far the single most important advice I can give you. Whatever it is you think of doing, whether it is something you learned along the way (a good traffic method for example), an idea you came up with, or jsut about anything, you must take action on it. Knowledge is very powerful but it is absolutely useless if not acted upon. So, do it, don’t say you will, or I’ll try, or maybe later, just do it.
Bonus Tips: Hi guys, the reply from Alex Whalley reached me quite late. Even though the post is up but i think it’s a waste to discard the blogging tips from Alex. His reply is a bit different from the tips listed above and i believe new bloggers or beginners should find this useful.
Here’s what Alex Whalley from AlexWhalley.com says:
1. Conversation is more important than content when you are first starting. by that I mean, your content needs to exist, but if you do not engage with other bloggers, noone will find you or help promote your stuff. As you engage – you learn, and by this very nature – your content gets better anyway, so focus on the conversation first
2. Stop playing the comparison game. Soon you will discover a lot of friends in the blogosphere, and you will learn of those that started at a similar time or are in a similar niche. Do NOT, I repeat do NOT compare yourself with them. Every situation is different and you can only do what you can do. If you need to – find someone with a shit blog and compare to theirs. This way at least the thoughts are productive and positive
3. Understand the importance of Keyword Research and SEO before you start the process of engagement. If you understand the basics, every ‘connection’ you make will become a valuable link back to your site, and with a knowledge of SEO under your belt, your blogs PR will rise a LOT quicker
4. Do not try to do too much at once, Information overload is the no. 1 killer of new bloggers, so just take it easy. Remember: You are only one person, and you are still learning
5. Take a break! My last point talks about too much information, so my last point is easy. Take a break, relax – and celebrate your achievements!
Well here you go. 6(We have 7 now) inspiration bloggers sharing their five most important blogging tips. I hope you enjoy this post as much as i do. I wish to make this into a series, asking a question related to blogging which i can think of to these inspirational bloggers, probably in weekly. This will depend on whether you like it or not. So please do not hesitate to leave a comment to tell me about it. Before i end the post, many thanks to Onibalusi, Michele, Samuel, Thu, Adam, DiTesco and Alex. Thank you very much for the support. You guys are really awesome. Love you guys and gals.

Lye,
Really good post. Some great bloggers and some great tips. What is really interesting is all the common threads. They say it is different ways but there are about 7 different things people list in their top 5 reasons.
This is because they are right. These really are the top things! There can be debate between what is the 2nd and the 5th most important things, but there is no real debate over “whether” the items are important

Hi Lye,
A super list of top-notch blogging advice here.
I like Adam’s piece of advice about building a system. Sure you’ll tweak your system from time to time but if you stick to core blogging fundamentals it’s easier to be persistent. You’ll face many ups and downs but blogging at a set time and in a set way creates consistency in your routine and this breeds persistence in your character.
Thanks for sharing these stories and have a powerful day!

Hey Lye –
Great list you assembled here! Thanks bringing us these blogging tips from some pretty amazing people in the blogosphere.
I definitely agree with all the advice given, although one thing I don’t think I read as being mentioned (forgive me if I missed it) was getting a “mentor”.
When I first started building my internet business, I turned to blogging as a way to get my message out to those that also believed in what I believe; entrepreneurship and financial education. However, I had no clue how to do it. It was then that I realized that I needed to find a successful blogging mentor and learn from them.
Finding a mentor put helped me understand a lot of things, put thing sin perspective for me and is working wonders in my business. Not only am I learning a lot from an experienced and successful blogger, I’ve built yet another business relationship and have access to his network of successful entrepreneurs.
I hope this helps! Thanks Lye!

No wonder they were all successful, I find them all expressive of their own uniqueness. The blogging arena is full of imitators, many bloggers want to be like someone; these people does not know that their own uniqueness will differentiate them from the rest.
It is important to be ourselves, know what needs to be known, persists, learn and evolve.

Hi Walter,
Each of these bloggers are unique in their own ways and i respect them a lot for their achievements. To be ourselves can only separate us from the rest and stand out in a congested blogosphere.

Tip no.6 – manage your time effectively LOL
I have to say that the best tip I could give is to get out there and engage and think outside the box. By that I mean – emailing blogging friends and asking them for their tips!
Genius Lye, and I have to tell you that you are one that inspires me too. I love the two way street that is the blogosphere!
