8 Inspirational Bloggers Sharing How They Maintain Their Motivation

Inspiration Bloggers Tips

All of us know blogging is a long journey which requires lots of commitment. As you encounter every obstacle along your way, you tend to ponder the next step you need to take. Some may choose to cross the hurdles and continue the journey as they are highly motivated to achieve their goals. Others will just decided to throw in the towel as they lost their motivation to walk another step.

How many times do you wake up and find yourself  having to drag yourself to your computer? Your mind goes blank and you are tired of writing. You feel blogging becomes a heavy chore for you to take. Do not worry, you are not alone. Somehow, bloggers will encounter this(loss of motivation) sooner or later. In this post, you will learn how 8 inspirational bloggers maintain their motivation in blogging.

Welcome to another series of “Inspirational Bloggers Tips”. This week, i ask each of them this question:

How do you keep yourself motivated to continue blogging?

Hector Cuevas from HectorjCuevas.com says:

I never lose sight of the what the end-goal is and I continuously look back at everything I’ve accomplished.

I make sure to celebrate every victory, no matter how small. When my posts get lots of comments, or I get a traffic spike, or I get more email sign-ups than usual, I celebrate.

Bloggers usually don’t have anyone patting them on the back when things like that happen, so we have to do it ourselves to keep us going.

DiTesco from IBlogZone.com says:

What motivates me most is when I “achieve” something. I plan, I execute, and then measure its success. Note that this is easier said than done. It is just like when I publish a fresh blog post. The comments I get, the retweets, the stumbles, etc are all motivational factors for me. In essence, one of things that motivates me most are the community of people that gives me support and provides me with the necessary vitamins to keep me going.

Success can be measured in a lot of ways and when I fail on something, I find that it motivates me even more to look for ways to make them better. I count every single positive thing as an accomplishment. It does not have to be something big and so is the reason why I say “every bit counts”. All this combined, gives me motivation to continue on my online endeavors.

Onibalusi Bamidele from YoungPrePro.com says:

I keep myself motivated by my goals. Anytime I’m about to fall or get discouraged I’ll take a look at my goals and what I wish to achieve, and believe me, I’ll be back after reminding myself my goals.

Michele Welch from NewBizBlogger.com says:

Keeping yourself motivated to continue to blog is definitely a challenge for sure. However, I think if you are passionate about what you do and then put strategies in place to meet your goals; you would be less likely to focus on the ups and downs and more on just taking actions to move yourself forward.

You will from time to time hit road blocks and maybe even question yourself about what you are doing.  It’s perfectly normal.  The key I think is to acknowledge the conversation, switch your focus and keep your eye on the prize; running a successful, value-driven blog.

Also, put less focus on what others are doing and comparing yourself to them.  Just continue to give great value, build strong relationships and enjoy the process.  If you do this, you WILL continue to grow as a person and as a blogger and the growth of your blog will in itself be your motivator.

Thu Nguyen from Bloggingfor.info says:

Simple. The blog is an extension of me. When I neglect it, I suffer. Now this doesn’t mean I’ll whine and cry if it breaks down, it just means I do what’s best for myself, and that is to continuously learn new things, think about how they can be beneficial for my future and share it with the community.

Surprisingly, it’s the feedback that comes back that keeps me going. It tells me that I’m not alone. Furthermore, this shows that the blogosphere is full of real folks who are interested in what you have to say. All you have to do is reach out, write and interact!

Just knowing that YOU have the power on the other end is a great insight, but only when you act! Call it a guilt trip but it works for me. Hasn’t failed me since. Moreover, I can’t stand doing nothing when I already know that I can. It keeps me at it even when it’s 3am in the morning.  :P

Samuel Ayodele from MegaBizFlakes.com says:

Great question Lye. Yeah, first of all, I know that if I want to win big in the blogosphere I have to think big and be patient.  Simply because “The Patient Dog Eat The Fattest Bone”

Blogging is a long term journey, all I have to do is to stick to my flow, I mean I need to be myself and keep doing what I know best, even when things are not going the way they are supposed to. I’ve faced many problems; so many people have criticized me and its part of what that kept me going.

I know where am going to, so when am in the state am not supposed to be I will gear myself up by keep striving on.

I know that no matter how skillful I am I will still face some grudges on the way, and whenever I come across them, I will face it other than running away from it. So if any thing should weigh me down, I will rise up again. It’s just like what Robert Kiyosaki said “Stay Faithful to the Process”

I do read self development books and blogs whenever am not feeling good.

So to any newbie that’s just starting out, don’t let anybody or any obstacles weigh you down, you can do it and break new ground. If people are telling you that you can’t make it, they are indirectly telling themselves that they can’t make it. “Be Yourself”  :D

Devesh Sharma from TechnShare.com says:

My Motivation comes from my blog readers. Second comes my online
friends like Alex, Ana, Oni etc. If i have not met people like Onibalusi and Alex Whalley then i never thought of expanding my network. And third comes money ;) .

Alex Whalley from AlexWhalley.com says:

Blogging is in its own right, a long term project, and something that cannot be made successful overnight. Problem is that when blogging one tends to forget this. You surround yourself with other successful bloggers and soon you start to wonder why you are not seeing the same results.

I think the best way to stay motivated is to remember what it was you were trying to achieve in the first place. I started my blog to share and learn, and since this is an ongoing process, I cannot expect to meet any ‘goal’ anytime soon. The way to stay motivated is to engage with others and allow yourself time to learn. By doing this you soon realise that everyone else is in the same boat, and only those that just keep taking action are ever moving forward. Remind yourself of this and it becomes a lot easier to just ‘keep taking action’

Nothing else will get you to your goals, and nothing else is so simple. Simple thngs are easy to do, so stay motivated by making it simple.

Give your Blog a KISS and that is the answer (KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid)

If you are facing any problems or you are unable to achieve any results on your blog, don’t lose heart yet. Overnight success stories do happen but it is very rare. Be realistic with your goals, read through this post before you give up. Hopefully you will rediscover your lost motivation once again just like you jump right into the blogosphere from day 1, motivated and enthusiastically to make your online business a success.

P.S I asked Tristan Higbee from Blogging Bookshelf.com the same question. He ended up having too much things to say about this topic and it evolved into a guest post. It will be publish tomorrow which Tristan will share with you his experience of giving up his blog due to lack of motivation and how he overcome that. Stay tune for the post tomorrow.

Another great series and once again, it is proven that when “there is a will, “there is a way”. It is very refreshing to see such great bloggers having to say what keeps them motivated. Blogging is not easy and “motivation” is definitely an important issue. Just remember that if you do decide to do something, don’t quit.

Credit to every one of you who support this series. It is especially easy for new bloggers to quit easily. Hopefully with the advice of so many awesome bloggers, they will reconsider when they lack of motivation. Like you say, “there is a will, “there is a way”.

Wow! Awesome job putting this all together and providing another great series Lye!

Everyone had some amazing things to say and what I noticed is that there’s a commonality; keeping on eye on your goals and the feedback and little successes from the blog itself is a huge motivator.

Great work as always! One question though… what keeps YOU motivated? I would be interested in knowing that. ;-)
