Here is a list of 8 mistakes you should avoid in order to improve your blog traffic.

You don’t have consistent quality content

Try to maintain consistent quality on your posts. Prevent spelling mistake and typo errors which make it difficult for people to read and resulting in them to visit other blogs. Try to improve your writing by reading and learning. Copyblogger is one that you can pay visit if you wish to improve your writing.

You do not blog consistently

You are not blogging consistently enough to attract your readers to come back for more. Do not disappear for 1 or 2 weeks especially if you are starting out on a new blog. Your readers will not remember you once you stop publishing your posts for long periods. The ideal post frequency will be 2-3 days per posts.

4) You have a poor design blog

Not everyone can be a website designer but you should choose or a theme which make it easy for your readers to navigate and read regardless of whether it is free or by purchase. You should visit some web design blog such as Smashing Magazine for a better idea on the web design aspects. If you have the budget, try to invest on a premium theme like woothemes and elegantthemes.

You are in a world of your own

You are not alone once you enter the blogging world. You need to be sociable and try to interact with your readers and other bloggers. Try to make friends out there and build up good relationship with other bloggers. You will be amazed to find that there is a lot of help along the way.

You are not inserting keywords in your blog posts

Try to insert keywords into your blog post for better search engine optimization. This will rank your post higher in various search engines and more people will see it if your post ranking is high. You can check out seomoz.org for more resources regarding SEO.

You lose your focus

I tried the whole posting 3 times a week and had to quite somewhere along the line when I realized that I was falling sick frequently (probably due to stress) and that the quality of my posts were gradually declining.

I’m working at maintaining one post a week for now.

As a reader I look forward to read new posts so I agree that bloggers should blog consistently. I frequently visit a list of blogs which makes me well informed and enriched through their posts. Posting after long breaks will only chase away the readers.
