4 Mindsets That Obstruct You From Taking Your Blog One Step Further

Mindset

You have been blogging for months or even years but you are still facing a stagnant in readership, subscribers and even income. Sometimes it all lies in your mindset. Whether you are a casual blogger or you are trying to build an auto-pilot online business depends on your blog approach. Are you able to react when the chips are down?

Mindset that obstructs

There are few mindsets that will run you down and obstruct you from taking your blog one step further.

Are you overwhelmed – Your blog is never too small

Well, every big blogs go through the stage of a small blog before they become a big blog. Just because you have a low readership doesn’t mean you will stay that way forever. You don’t dare to step out of your comfort zone and interact with bloggers bigger than you. You worry that you are being ignored and your mails/guest post will not get any replies. Don’t be afraid of rejection. You are bound to receive no as an answer. How bad can it be when that happens? Understand what you need to do to make your blog stands out and get noticed.

Are you focusing – Strategy that works best for you

There are a lot of blogging tips circulating online and you are overloaded with it. The main challenges are building a huge traffic. You don’t actually have to follow every single tips and test out every single method. Just focus method that works. Look at Onibalusi Bamidele from YoungPrePro. Guest posting works perfectly for him and he went all out to submit his guest post to bigger blogs that bring him huge traffic. This works the best for him and he doesn’t need to try out every traffic generation strategies.

Are you pessimistic – Celebrate your small achievements

Blogging needs a lot of patience from you. Celebrating small achievements or improvements from you blog keeps you motivated and more determined to keep your blog going. No matter how difficult the circumstance is, you should not be beaten easily. If you are unable to attract 100 visitors a day, aim for 10 visitors a day. Grow your blog step by step, bit by bit. With hard work and real action, there is no reason why your blog will not see its success.

Are you comparing – You have your own route

It’s not advisable to compare your blogs against other blogs that are more successful than you. Are you starting to blame/moan about your luck? Why on earth you blog is not doing as well as the other blog. Each blog has its own route. We can never walk on the same pace. Other blogger may dedicate more time and effort. What about you? Stop looking at others, instead concentrate on ways to improve your blog.

Conclusion

Your mindset has a lot to determine where your blog will be heading. Are you afraid of taking your blog one step further? Throw the mindset above away and you will not be tie to a small circle, going round and round.

  • Is there other mindset that is stopping you from taking your blog one step further?
  • How do you overcome it?

      Hi Lye,

I know sometimes it’s very difficult for any new blogger to speak with big blogger as he/she feels that he won’t get much priority and it makes him feel insulted but this is not the right way to face the challenge. Improve your personality and your blog so that you can stand out in the crowd and that’s what really work.

        Hi Anu,

You are right. We are never too small. We just have to keep on working hard and get ourselves noticed. Most important we should not be shy and stay away from big bloggers.

        Thanks for the comments.

Thanks, cause I needed to hear this. I have been down because my visitors dropped this month. I’m working hard at my blog, yet, I’m not a techie kine of person. So everything takes me a while to get right. I really am glad for all the people who write things that can help non-technical persons such as myself. I’ve wanted to guest blog, but not sure how to go about it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

        Hi Sally,

To guest blog, there are a few things you need to take note.

        1. Provide your best post/content
        2. Look for bigger bloggers in your niche and submit your guest post.
        3. “No” will be common as an answer
        4. Keep trying on different blogs
        5. Authority blogs will take longer to accept. You got to be patient.

        I hope that helps.

I’m guilty of comparing, I’ll admit. I see the really big mom and natural parenting blogs out there, and then I wonder that I’m even trying. It’s really difficult, since moms are such a HUGE market, but the natural parenting blogs out there are narrow niche and everyone already knows the sources to point to when anyone has a question.

It’s kind of like starting up a Mom & Pop shop next door to a Costco or Wal-Mart. It’s almost like, “Why bother?”

Well, I bother because some people deliberately seek out the little Mom & Pops. So it gives me hope.

      Sometimes. =)

        Hi Delena,

Comparing against other blogs is something that we encounter commonly. I will do that too.

We need to ensure we are not run down by blogs bigger than us. It’s important to have hope. You will surely see success if you persist.

        Thanks for commenting.

        Hey Delena,

You have a great point about people wanting different things. Just because a business in your niche is already established doesn’t mean you can’t do different things to make yours stand out. Good observation here, because I personally don’t like going to Wal-mart. I know a lot of people who don’t like Wal-mart also. Some supermarkets are always quick and easy.

        Plus you can find a parking space within a 5 mile radius. ( ;

        Just my 2 cents.

Well, the things that you have mentioned aren’t true for just blogging, but hold themselves true for perhaps many possibly apt businesses. The whole point is that we have to keep our mindsets open, free for all kind of thoughts and a rational evaluation of all those thoughts.

      Hi Lye,
I agree with you. Nothing is more important than the correct mindset. Limited beliefs will limit you. Optimism and hard work will allow you to make progress that you didn’t think was possible. Good luck and wish you the best.

Exactly Lye! Being pessimistic is essential because success is a process with lots of ups and downs and which take time. Finding a strategy that works for you and sticking to it is the best way to get there.

I believe healthy comparison once in a while is great for motivational purposes.

      Great insights Lye!

      Lye,

      Great post!

I think that one of the stoppers I had earlier was not asking for help. As soon as I realized that I can get plenty of help by just asking, I was able to move forward.

        Hi Timo,

It’s always great to know that we are not blogging alone. If we have to ask for help, we better do so to save our time pondering and get the job done faster.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.

      Hey Lye,

Thanks for the awesome article my man!

People need to learn not to compare themselves with anyone else, because no one is the same. Everyone has different speeds at which they progress. When you stop comparing yourself you can find your own route, and that’s what must happen. This is great stuff here and happy I dropped by again.

You say that it’s best to find a strategy that works best for you? What seems to be working best for you Mr. Lye?

It’s been awhile since I have been bavk around the scenes here, but I’ll be back soon!

        Hi William,

For me, the best is blog commenting and Twitter. As i have been cutting down on commenting due to family commitments, i am seeing more traffic coming from social voting site, retweets and search engine.

Great to see you back William. Have a nice week ahead.

Very well written Lye! I think that bloggers should first realize that they are indeed in their comfort zones before they can actually get out from it. For me, one way to know if you are really moving forward is to remember what your goal is before you start everything. If you realize that you are nowhere near your goal, then you are just circling within your comfort zone and you’ve got to do something about that.

        Hi Charlene,

Sometimes it’s just your mentality which is stopping you. Take a step forward and things maybe different. We should always be moving forward instead of contenting where we are. Don’t you agree?

Thanks for dropping by Charlene. Hope to see you around soon.

One’s mindset is indeed what dictates one’s actions. One should not let his mindset be so obtrusive so as that it prevents him from taking risks of any kind, after all, if there is no risk, there is no game.

We can’t underestimate one’s mindset can actually do wonders if we need it. Our mind controls how we act so it’s important to have a strong mindset.
