Do you remember the time when you start a blog? You are filled with excitement and probably the benefits that will come along. As you go along, soon you will be facing obstacle one after another blocking your progress. Even before you start your blog, you may already face one. Blogging obstacles tend to kill your passion and undermine your expectations for blogging. What are the most common blogging obstacles?
Fear and Procrastination
This is one of the most common blogging obstacles. Fear and procrastination will obstruct you in taking action. You can’t move forward if you are unable to release the thoughts of fear and procrastination.
You procrastinate because you fear. Fear comes within your mind. It doesn’t exist at all. You are probably afraid of failure. Fear of unknown. You are always thinking of “What if”. To totally eliminate fear, you just have to remember “What can be the worst that could happen”.
Acknowledge your fear and take a step forward. Once you overcome fear, you will not procrastinate as fear and procrastination are two sides of a coin.
Writer’s block
You have scheduled to write today but suddenly your mind go blank. You have no ideas for your post. This is quite common for bloggers. There are several ways to overcome writer’s block. The best way that works for me is:
- Simply take a rest
If you don’t have any ideas to write a post, forget it and post another day. You can focus your efforts to do other things. Read other blogs, network with other bloggers etc. No point forcing out a post if you are having writer’s block.

Lack of traffic
Traffic is bread and butter to a blogger. A blog without any traffic is nothing. You want people to read your post, you want your blog to be recognized. If your aim is to earn an income, it certainly can’t be achieve without a high traffic. Most common ways of attracting traffic is:
- High quality content
- Blog commenting
- Guesting posting
- Social networking
- Blog bookmarking

Hi Lye,
When I started my blog I too was fearing like how can I face the experts around the globe, but I started things one by one and now I’m getting good response from my readers and I’m feeling very confident.

Hi Riya,
Confidence is grown once you accumulate your small achievement bit by bit. It’s good to aim small and slowly increase the expectation as you progress.
Thanks for the comments.

Hey Lye,
I totally agreed with your point that we create a blog so that people read it, like it and appreciate it. If no one going to read it then we probably don’t create any blog.

Hi Anu,
A blog is for people. But we cannot assumed there is traffic once we start a blog. There are far too many things we need to do to have a high traffic blog.
Thanks for commenting.

Hi Lye,
Writer’s block is very common issue with every blogger as you can’t think always a interesting topic to write on.
Solution is simple write the blogs of your competitors and read books related to your niche. It really helps to get new idea.

Hi Sam,
Thanks for your input. Getting ideas from other blogs is a great way, we just to have our own take on the topic.

All those problems arise from lack of will.
You already gave solutionsm, so it’s possible to overcome them, but you need to want it bad enough and be willing to invest time in this.
For example, it’s easy to be down from lack of visitors, but you can simply google it and you’ll find a lot of methods to attract more.

My biggest obstacle to blogging is my Inbox!
I need to put writing a post at the top of my list, before I get distracted by anything else.
Ignoring the phone, the doorbell, the coffee jar are all hard to do but essential if we want to write our best content.
Thanks for alerting us, Lye.
(OOOPS! I got distracted reading your post… but I’m glad I did!)

Hi Linda,
Distraction is always around us. As you have mentioned, small details such as the phone is distracting us easily, we think it takes a short time but we end up taking more and more time to complete the task.
I am glad you did too. Thanks for the comments and support.

Unfortunately, my blogging obstacles are not listed her. Mine is a 7 month old that wants to live in my arms and craves every ounce of my attention.
I still haven’t found a solution for that one, though…

Hi Delena,
That’s an even bigger obstacle for you. Most like you have to sacrifice for your 7 month old as the greatest thing in this world is mother’s love. All the best.
Thanks for joining in the discussion.

Lack of readers is definitely very discouraging. But as long as you keep creating quality content and try to get out of your own little world to network with others the results will eventually come.
I think a HUGE obstacle that exists for many people that are new to blogging is impatience. You have to be patient and work through it in order to start seeing any real results.

Hi Eugene,
Great to see you here mate. When it comes to money issue, people tend to get more impatient. They have to understand this really takes a long process. It also requires lots of hard work and time.
Thanks for your input. Appreciate your comments.

Hey Lye, well, I can not believe
You mentioned me! Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!
I also agree with the points you made and can not decide which of the 3 are worse.
I just think nothing should slow us down and stop us, but we should keep pushing and trying

Lye; some very awesome points here brother! I agree cent percent on what you said about the common blogging obstacles.
Procrastination is certainly a huge one. Writer’s block is too and so is the lack of traffic. One of my biggest obstacles is ‘time’. Even with the best time management strategies, that I possibly can implement, I am still struggling (O: Hopefully, I can take time off my job and make some more blogging time after my shit gets straightened out.
Appreciate the mention brother!
You are so awesome.

Finding good subjects to write about is my daily challenge, but with a little concentration and lots of will nothing is impossible.

Hi Mia,
There are quite a number of ways to solve it but i am glad you are adopting the positive attitude.
Thanks for the comments.
Lye
Hi Lye,
Those obstacles are really easy to overcome because they aren’t real obstacles. They are the obstacles that we create ourselves from lack of interest. Fear and Procrastination – I don’t really believe in this reason, Writer’s Block – there’s no such thing as writer’s block, it’s only that we’re too tired to write, too lazy to write, too bored to write, too something. Lack of traffic – write great content and you will go both viral and bacterial, and.. voila, no more blogging ‘obstacles’. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Adrian,
I really loved your positive attitude. Our mentality plays an important part on whether we are creating obstacles for ourselves. If every blogger would have to think like you, i believe there will be less blog dying.
Thanks for sharing your insight.

Blogging is something that needs a lot of perseverance and determination especially if you are out to make money from your blog. Although it might be hard at first with time things start shaping up. It was very nice of you to share this with people.
