Seduce Your Visitors With a Well Crafted Blog Tagline

Tagline

A tagline to a blog is just like any slogan or brand to a company. While i am out visiting a blog, i always like to read the blog tagline. It represent the message you want to get across and the overall image that your blog shows. A tagline that can create a lasting impression will immediately catch the attention of a visitor. It should be able to tell the visitor what your blog is all about at a glance. Some taglines just made me smile. They are funny and creative but they still complement the blog pretty well.

Do not undermine the importance of a tagline as it tells people:

- Your brand

- Your mission

- Your goals

- Your purpose

Of course there are other important aspects of a blog that influence people’s decision in staying, there is no harm in creating a tagline people like. This is the time where your creativity come into play and you can let your imagination run wild. Just don’t overdo it.

I don’t believe in having a funny and special tagline but it doesn’t tell people what the blog is all about. Creativity is a valuable asset to have but don’t abuse it.

Here are some examples of blog taglines that complement really well with the blog title. Enjoy!

Blogcast FM – A podcast by bloggers, for bloggers

Blog Tyrant – Dominating the blogosphere

Feel Gooder – Tips for life

Gearlog – A gadget guide by geeks, for geeks

How to change the world – A practical blog for impractical people

Lifehack – Points on productivity, getting things done and lifehack

PluginID – Plug into your identity

Write to done – Unmissable articles on writing

Word play – Helping writers become authors

Zen habits – Smile, breath & go slowly

The tagline above seduces easily but ultimately people stay because of their content. Tagline is a bit underrated in blogging but having a tagline that seduces will make your visitor stay just a little while longer to explore your blog deeper.

Have you come across any blog taglines that seduces you?

Does your tagline seduces?

Great point here on the tagline Lye. For all the reasons you mentioned, plus it can help ensure that you’re connecting with the right audience.

For instance, the tagline on my blog is: “Start a business. Start marketing. Get paid.”

So if someone gets there and they aren’t interested in those topics, they know not to waste their time. It ensures that I’m talking with the right people with my content.

      Hi Robert,

Great point. Interacting with the right audience is important as they will be more interested of things we said.

The tagline must be able to tell the audience he/she is at the right place.

Thanks for dropping by and the comments.

Thanks for the article. I’m new at blogging and finding your advice helpful.

What do you think of periodically changing tag lines? Would that come across as fresh or appear as too inconsistent?

      Hi Tweeterella,

I believe if your tagline fulfill the four key areas that i listed above, you shouldn’t change periodically. Unless there is a change of mission or direction with your blog, then it’s better to think of another blog tagline which brings out the overall image.

Thanks for asking and your comments.

      Hi Fran,

My tagline is on top under the logo “The Place Where You Won’t Get Lost in Blogging”.

I think your tagline brings out the purpose of your blog pretty well. One look at it, i can tell what your blog is all about.

If you decide to change, i would suggest you to think what is the main mission of your blog. What can your readers gain after reading your blog? Once you have that, i think you should be able to come out with a catchy phrase.

Thanks for asking and visiting. Best of luck with your rephrase.

    Hi Lye,
Your tagline is very important, if somebody asks you what your blog is about, they don’t want to hear a 1000 words, they want a catchy slogan.
Mine is “Blog Because You Love To, Not Because You Have To” I like it, and it portrays my attitude to blogging.
I love “The Place Where You Won’t Get Lost in Blogging”.
Catchy and explains your blog. Perfect.

    Hi Lye,

I feel blog taglines are important.

It’s like reading the headline of a post. If it catches your attention, you stick around. If it doesn’t your’re gone.

I’ve spent time recently to adjust my blog title and tag line. I lacked direction for a while but recently found a title and tagline that worked for me. Getting clear has helped to increase my readership. More importantly it’s helped me to target my market.

I also feel that a blog tagline complements the title. Following up with a specific tagline helps to accentuate the the title, further impressing the blog’s brand on your mind.

Thanks for sharing your insight Lye.

As always, i am delighted to see you commenting here as you have stated why a tagline is important.

Impress our mind in people’s mind is our objective. A unique logo or a creative tagline will help people to remember out site easily.

      Thanks for adding the points.

True, true. Great info here on blog taglines, made me think of updating my tagline too. My tagline does seduce a lot of people, but it connects perfect with my kind of audience. A blog tagline is not important, it’s EXTREMELY important, it shows everything about your blog, all articles converted in a few words. Cheers Lye!
