Cultivate Your Basic Blogging Fundamentals Mindset And Ways to Overcome Quitting Your Blog

Quit Blogging

How many blogs are there in the blogosphere right now? BlogPulse is an automated trend discovery system for blogs. It is also a search engine that tracks and analyzes reports on daily blogging activities. Up to today, close to 150 million blogs are identified and almost 50k blogs are being set up in the last 24 hours track by BlogPulse. That’s a lot of competition in whatever niche you are in.

What about the blogs that dies? I am sure the number is great too. There isn’t any site that recorded the blogs that dies. I don’t have any data to show you. If you know, please let me know about it. But that’s not important. Important thing is why does people quit? Where are the enthusiasm, passion and desire when you are just starting out? There are a lot of reasons that make people quit. The reasons maybe:

– You don’t have the time

– It’s a chore for you to keep writing

– You run out of ideas what to write

– Your passion dies

– You feel you are getting nowhere with your blog

– Your focus shifted

– You are not earning any revenue

– You just get tired of blogging

– You are stressed by your family

– Fail of failure

– Fail to learn new technology

I can provide you with hundreds or thousands of reason that people quit their blog but people do not need so many. Just any one of them is enough to make you abort blogging. So if you are still blogging when you read this post, applaud yourself for doing so as we all know it’s not easy to commit long term to blogging.

Did You Forget About Your Basic Blogging Fundamentals?

The problems listed above will arise at certain stages when you blog. What make it so easy for you to throw in the towel? Have you forgotten the basic blogging fundamentals when you decided to set up a blog? Just imagine your enthusiasm, your passion, your shout “I want to be a full time blogger” or “I want to be known by all”, all those have diminished to the air and you just can’t find them back. What are the basic fundamentals of blogging that you lost?

1. Goals

Do you still remember your goal of starting your blog? Is blogging just a channel for you to voice out your opinions? Are you just trying to blog for fun? Are you just following the trend blindly? Is making an income online your objective? Whatever it is, you need to remember your goal clearly. The goals you have set play a big part in your decision to quit your blog.

Are you setting your goal too high until you have trouble reaching? If you set unrealistic goals for example, you want to quit your full time job in less than three months. If you are unable to reach the target, you will be easily discouraged and the thought of quitting will come to your mind naturally.

2. Passion

You look so happy like a child getting a new toy when your blog is up and alive. You work hard and start writing your post. You write a lot but you don’t seem to see results coming your way. There are no reader, no traffic and no comments. Suddenly you start to question yourself whether your time and efforts to provide value to your visitors is worth it.

One day you wake up and you find yourself reluctant to log in to your WordPress account, you just want to leave your blog as it is. Suddenly your passion dies. You are no longer enthusiastic to maintain your blog.

3. Commitment

Life is full of commitments. When you are studying, your commitment is to get good results to avoid disappointing your parents. When you are working, you need to fully commit to your job so that you can perform for the company. When you are married, your commitment to your wife and in future your young ones is long term. Once you decided to blog, no lesser commitments than the above can be compromised.

You have a commitment to yourself and your visitors if you have. Commit to your goals and targets you have for your blog. Commit to your readers to keep providing them with the value and solutions to their problem. Have your forgotten the commitment when you intend to quit? Don’t use “no time” as the excuse to quit. If you have lesser time, you can always blog lesser but the commitment must be there.

4. Focus

Along with commitment, focus is another blogging fundamental that you need. Not 50%, not 99% but 100% focus to make your blog a success. Plan your task systematically; set a deadline for your task will keep your concentration on one direction and you just follow it along. You shouldn’t let any distraction to bring you down including the problems you will face along the way.

5. Patience

Are you getting impatient about your blog progress? This is one that will kill your passion and desire to succeed. People tend to get more impatient when it comes to earn an income online. You need to understand that blogging is for long term and it’s rare that you will see success and earn 4-5 figures in few months.

Never let your impatience hinder you to focus on building your blog. Look at the successful bloggers around you. Their experience will tell you patience is the key to success.

Ways to Help You Overcome Thoughts of Quitting

You need to get your blogging fundamentals right to continue your blogging journey. What if you decide to quit? I have some recommendation for you to consider following when that happens.

  • Restrain your thoughts

You need to restrain that thought “Quitting” coming to your mind. Do not underestimate the powers of your mindset. If you keep telling yourself don’t give up, you still yet to finish what you have started. Keep repeating until the thought of “Quitting” is forced out of your mind. Remember why you start a blog. Try to look for that feeling when you started.

  • Reconsider your goals

Have a reflection on your goals. Is it necessary to reconsider and make some changes? If you are having trouble in reaching your goals, make your goal smaller. This will make it easier for you to reach them. If you can’t take big steps, take baby steps at a time.

  • Reignite your passion

You need to reignite your passion if your passion dies.  You can try to give your blog a new look. A redesign blog will reignite your burning desire for your blog. Revisits some of your post brings you back the memories when you are enthusiastic after your post was published at that time.

  • Review your strategies

If you still can’t get the results, you need to look at the strategies you are using and review them. If A doesn’t work for you, probably B will. Look for somebody for advice, ask for their help. Why aren’t you getting the results? Let people tell you where you have gone wrong.

  • Take a break

Take a break if you need. A well deserved rest will serve you well. It will let you have the energy and the strength to keep going. Let your thoughts turn back to the early stages while you are taking a rest. Remember the good times if any and try to forget whatever problems you have.

  • Keep your blog alive

If you insist on quitting, I would recommend you to keep your blog alive. Make a announcement in your blog. Passion goes and comes easily. One day you may find yourself reignite your passion and would want to continue.

Support can make all the difference! But I’ll admit – passion is what keeps a blogger going when things just don’t seem to be going their way.
