One thing I would add to this, though it doesn’t fit in the “DELIVER” acronym, is something I see you doing – promoting your blog. The “build it and they will come” mentality gets people nowhere. I found your site via your comments and now, because you do DELIVER, am sticking around.

      Hi Robert,

Those were the days. We can’t have those mentality now. Great content and marketing simply go hand in hand. Without any one of them, we won’t be seeing success in our blog.

      Thanks for adding the point.

    Hi Lye,

I’m enjoying this analogy, well done :)

Innovation is a biggie. It’s fun and exciting to experiment with new approaches to your work. This is where networking comes in. I’ve attracted more goal-achieving ideas by visiting blogs like yours than through any other activity.

The more you create the less you compete. The more you receive and share your inspiration with other bloggers the better it is for the whole. A wonderful concept, when you take a moment to think about it.

Robert makes a good point too; we must promote consistently to spread the word about our blog. Marketing your content persistently is an act of faith that causes it to be noticed because people are drawn to someone who believes in themselves.

Thanks for sharing your insight Lye.

      Hi Ryan

It’s hard to be innovative. Visiting other blogs is definitely one of the good ways.

People see success because they are willing to share. The more we give, the more people will see us as the authority.

Peter indeed makes a good point. Without promotion, how can the readers find us.

As always, appreciate your wonderful comments. Thanks for dropping by.

Top notch once again Lye. Wonder where you get these stuff that DELIVER :) What can I say, you hit the sweet spot on being successful on the internet. I must say that you either do everything single one of them, or stale and drift away in the sea of other blogs out there that do just that, DELIVER.

    Now you’ve started me thinking!

I’m thinking about how your ‘DELIVER’ analogy can also to apply to us, as writers and bloggers -

    1. D …Delight… for you and me as writers. The delight that comes from knowing we’ve written the best we can that day.

    2. E… Exceed… our own expectations. We’re writing more than we thought possible and to a far higher standard than we imagined.

    3. L… Learn. As bloggers we can learn what to write by asking our readers and fulfilling their needs.

    4. I…Innovate…we must develop our unique writing style, our own vision for our blog. We must stand out from the crowd.

    5. V…Venture…we must invest in improving our site, to make it a welcoming, friendly and comfortable place to visit.

    6. E…Reliable…we will rely on our readers to join our community by commenting, subscribing and adding their own insights to what we write.

Just a few ideas I came up with from a writer’s viewpoint.

I am so enjoying visiting your blog, Lye!

Great stuff here. Nice to see you coming out with your acronym.

I think you have sum it better than me. All your points emphasize on the readers and it’s important. Our readers are our motivation. Without them our blogs will be dead.

      Thanks for sharing your view.

    Lye,
I’d like to add an “S” to the end of D.E.L.I.V.E.R. –
    ‘S’how some personality!
You need to let who you are shine through. It adds to the entertainment value of your blog. It also gives people a glimpse of who you are, which makes it easier for them to relate to you. This is the best way I’ve found to ensure that your blog’s readers will keep coming back. Which, of course, is the gateway to building trust, and converting visitors into customers/clients.

      Hi Dave,

Definitely, we need to show our personality in our post by using our own voice. Besides providing value in the content, our voice is what attracts people to resonate with us.

      Thanks for the added point.

    Hey Lye,

Even though it is pretty much the most important component, getting tons of traffic is definitely not the only ingredient for a successful blog. Having quality content also plays its role. Copying a few works from the first article directory you got your hands on, is most probably not going to be enough.

Liked the ‘Exceeding expectations’ part. That one is absolutely valid. In order to achieve it, you need to have something top-notch to offer though.

Being innovative is also a good one. Why would somebody choose to read your blog, when same stuff can be found on 100 other places? Presenting different points of view always makes a difference.

Great advice Lye.If we are not delivering value to our readers or potential customers we are losing traffic and money to our competition, because if you can’t deliver you can bet there is someone out there that can.

Your last advice on becoming a reliable source of information is great. What better way to become the authority on a subject by providing reliable information consistently, and becoming an authority will equal more traffic and more money. Thanks for sharing.

Many people give up almost immediately after they start up a blog. This is because they do not get what they expected from the blog and this discourages them so much. It could be that their blogs do not deliver and that is why they get poor results. Thank you for summing it all up with one word.
