Since my last post in2011, i announced i will be taking two months break due to the arrival of my second child and shifting of house. I thought i will be back after everything has settled down but it seems the demands of taking care my newly arrival toddler has taken a toll on me.

It is inevitable that i have to commit all my time in helping to feed Kevan, carry him when he cries, change diapers when he wet himself and helping to do the household chores. My new house is not ready yet(it will be ready in 1-2 weeks) but i foresee my free time of writing blog post and doing all the blogging stuff at night will be dedicated to little Kevan and Alvan after i knock off from work when we shifted to our new house.

I am grateful for having a wonderful wife

Currently i am staying in my mom’s house with my elder son Alvan while little Kevan and his mom are staying in my mother in-law house. We will get together in one place during the weekends. I get a glimpse of how my wife has to wake up everyday twice in early mornings to feed Kevan and change his diapers. That has been going on for over a month.

Suddenly i am filled with emotions of seeing how tedious and tiring she is. I feel guilty when i think of me spending all my free time maintaining and building this blog in future while leaving my wife to take care of Kevan, not to mention Alvan is only 4 years old and need daddy’s company.

I can’t simply balance my family and my blog at the same time for now. One has to go and definitely it’s going to be Findmyblogway.

My wife has never ask me to quit as she know blogging is my passion. I just feel i have to do something to share the family burden. This is my way of showing my gratitude to a loving wife.

I am leaving this blog(for now)

It’s never my wish of leaving a blog unattended and providing no value at all to the readers of Findmyblogway after i decide on committing my time to my family.

Therefore I will be relinquishing the ownership of this blog. The new owner is somebody whom i respected and one you may find familiar with. He is Devesh, the founder of wpkube and ex-owner of technshare.

He will be starting a new blogging project soon name blogpreneurs.com and all the contents of this blog will be incorporated to his new blog. Please kindly extend your support to him as you have always given me.

Being a more knowledgeable and experience blogger than i am, i am sure he will provide much much more value of various blogging tips than what you are getting from me now.

I write with a heavy heart to bid farewell to all my readers and friends who make my blogging journey enjoyable since Findmyblogway was born in July 2010.

It has been a fabulous 18 months blogging for you. I am glad to meet a lot of great folks along the way. People who has been visiting, supporting, helping and giving me advice. I am sorry i can’t name everyone here but you know who you are.

From the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU!

Will you still be seeing me?

Hell yeah! I am definitely not leaving the blogosphere. I will keep on visiting and reading blogs. The only difference is i will be no longer writing and posting.

Never say never. The future is unpredicted. Who knows i will be back one day, writing for you once again. That will be my greatest pleasure!

I hereby wish everyone good health and happiness. Goodbye!

This is a guest post by Nitesh. Should you wish to write for this blog, check out the guest post guidelines.

We are told over and over again the sorts of things to avoid and things to do in your advertising campaign. From the appropriate models to the right tittles to the right colors; the right way to create our banner ads is being told to us over and over again. And that’s not a bad thing: banner ads are a very important part of any marketing campaign and they can make the difference between a good campaign and a bad one just by the placement of a model’s eyes. But there is something that is often overlooked: white space.

Many people don’t like white space. They treat it as a challenge and try to fill it as quickly as possible. However, white space can serve an incredibly potent purpose if it used correctly.

The Benefits of White Space

White space, when used properly, mainly serves to emphasize your text and pictures in a way that clutter does not. There is no distraction from your main message and image and viewers are clearly able to see what you are trying to convey.

Source: http://www.gnc-web-creations.com/banner-ads.htm

It’s pretty obvious what this ad is saying!

White space is the most professional tool to use when it comes to making the most of your advertising message. While doing things like having large text or flashing lights is common, the proper use of space makes your advertisement look more professional and thus more trustworthy and so stands out best in a sea of advertising campaigns.

More white space also cuts down on the amount of time it will take to load up your ad and the amount of space it will take up on a page. It’s a little perk for website owners and browsers alike, but sometimes the little things are all it takes to help you be seen.

How to Use White Space Properly

Now, obviously you don’t want to have a ton of white space or else you just end up having a distracting ad all over again. the standard convention is to have about 25% of your advertisement by used up by white space and generally you want it around your main message. Cluttering up your main message with other text and images only makes it hard to see; white space makes it pop out.

You may look at your advertisement and wonder how you’re supposed to fit in white space when you have so much stuff to say about your product or services! Well the fact is that you probably have to do some pruning of your advertisement. Save the pile of information for your landing page and use your advertisement like the first sentence or two of a sales pitch; something to entice and intrigue, not explain. By pruning your advertisement down, you will be able to find that white space just fine.

What’s interesting is that we don’t even realize how much we like the white space until we are unconsciously choosing them. Advertisements with the right amount of white space make the marketer more money than those without, even when we think that the larger banner ad without so much white space would perform better. It’s mostly unconscious, but the reality is that people react better to white space.

Kill the Clutter

Part of the use of space also includes where to put your space. Photos and your main message should be clear of distracting clutter or else the eyes of the viewer will slide away from where you want them to go. Clutter also makes your ad look unprofessional and gaudy and many internet users have been trained to filter out such things as spam and so your site will never be seen.

Streamline your advertisement by getting rid of the flashy text, the giant pictures and the strobe lights. Make your message plain and to the point, your image solid and helpful and tie the whole ad together with the right balance of a good color scheme and the proper balance of white space.

If you think you’ll have trouble getting rid of the clutter, try doing things like changing the size of your advertisement (which may also help you be noticed better because changing banner ad size gets rid of banner blindness) and try making it a goal to only have one message in your banner which only has a few words and one picture. By limiting yourself, you can find the white space you need to make your advertisement stand out properly and thus be more effective.

It will take some fiddling and practice, but the right combination of white space and good design will make your advertisement pop in ways that you could never have imagined. It is as important to do nothing with the space you have as it is to do something with it; keep that in mind when you design your banner advertisements for your business. White space is not something that must be filled at any price; it can be an important tool for your advertising if used appropriately.

It has never been easier to connect with customers. Whether new or old the Internet allows customers and entrepreneurs to develop an online reputation by talking directly to consumers via social networking sites, blogs and websites. For brands, the development has been revolutionary. Geography, time zones and culture these are no longer an impediment to growth but instead an opportunity to expand and reach more markets.

Yet with this opportunity comes an increasing risk. An online reputation can operate in the same way as your profile one to one. If a company or entrepreneur is trusted by their expertise, experience and personable quality they will go far. However, bad customer service or a casual remark that offends or alienates consumers can be damaging. This is as true online as it is offline. The issue becomes more important when talking to a global marketplace. Language, culture, online practice; all these things change from country to country. If engagement is the buzzword that ensures an online reputation is protected in the US, then surely this same practice has to be rolled out across the globe to match expansion?

Talk in a native tongue

English may be the dominant language online but if a business is built in different marketplaces then it is important to employ native copywriters and communicators who can translate content and make it applicable to each different marketplace.

Translation services online, like Yahoo and Babelfish, can in theory be used across each social networking platform and translate each post. Yet the reason social networks, particularly like Twitter, Facebook and Renren work is that they give companies a human angle. Machines, or bots as they are known online, churning out untargeted material make consumers switch off. Personable, chatty updates using slang and colloquialisms – vital if a brand is connecting with a younger market – are more attractive. If an entrepreneur is using social networks to prove their knowledge and expertise they may use jargon or technical language. One mistake and it will undermine a reputation. Using a native speaker removes this risk. Not only utilized for social networks, copywriters can produce blogs topics, news stories or articles that will increase the content on a website boosting a brand’s visibility on search engines and giving consumers more to read.

Where are you talking?

Not every country uses the same social networking sites, so to engage with different users around the world and cast your net, a company or entrepreneur will have to research and investigate the popular networks in their target markets. Twitter is blocked in China for example. Users there prefer Renren, which is similar to Facebook. In India Orkut is as popular as it is in Brazil. Mixi and Gree are used in Japan while in Russia sites like VKontakte and Odnoklassniki have more than 100 million users. Huge audiences and huge potential for interaction.

Researching the right social network is the first step. The next is to investigate best practice and how users interact and share information. In Japan networks users will be more likely to invest in good content. Vkontakte is so high profile in Russia because of its ability to easily share music and video. Firms in Russia often use it for recruitment so for a business wanting to interact with graduates or students this platform is vital. In China social networks are used to share blogs and forum comments. Understanding how consumers interact makes it much easier to join the conversation.

Invest in regular work

Some companies think it is enough to simply update their Twitter or Facebook once every few days. Social networks are built on interaction, and this is true around the globe. Investing in a native speaker who can interact with consumers, answer their questions and requests will develop a more solid online reputation. A calm and measured response works well if dealing with complaints.

Encouraging engagement is an ideal way to build an online reputation. Whether online reviews, polls or the opportunity to add comments these will help customers feel they are part of a brand. Yet to maintain this engagement investment does need to be made on the right person to interact on the same level as customers, ensuring there are no language errors and grammatical faux pas.

Monitor your reputation

The best way to keep a good online reputation is to monitor what people are saying. Either free or with a monthly fee, there are different programmes that can send regular reports of social media comments and mentions, blogs or news stories. It is a useful way of keeping track, responding to comments and questions that might not have been answered or setting the record straight if a comment is made that might damage the brand. Programmes like Radian 6 and Lithium provide regular updates for a fee. For free SocialMention charts keywords in different networks and platforms including blogs, events, news and videos. BlogPulse searches for mentions in blogs while MonitorThis searches 26 search engines. These are particularly vital if working with a global market as some may simply focus on Facebook and Twitter, making it difficult to track what consumers in different countries are saying.

Maintaining an online reputation around the globe is simply a matter of knowing what consumers are saying, and where they are saying it. Using the same communication principles in social networking platforms in the US and Canada of engagement, honesty and personable interaction it becomes increasingly important to understand trends abroad and make sure a native speaker helps a company or entrepreneur talk to new or potential customers in their own tongue.

Do you want to find out what people are saying about your blog, brand and company on social media websites? What is happening in your niche right now? Who is looking for your products or needs your professional services? If so, then keep reading. Here is the list of 15 free tools for researching and tracking keywords on social media sites like blogs, forums, microblogs, video and document sharing communities, and popular networks (including ubiquitous Facebook, of course).

All-in-one

1. Who’sTalkin is a social media search tool that allows its users to search for conversations surrounding the topics that they are interested in. Who’s Talkin searches more than 60 social sites like social networks, blogs, microblogging sites, forums, image and video sites, and more. Search results are displayed in an organized way. This is a great tool for tracking conversations that mention your brand, competitors and keywords on the social web.

Facebook

2. YourOpenBook searches Facebook statuses by keywords. It allows you to filter results by male and female user statuses.

3. Kurrently searches both Facebook and Twitter for keywords in real time. It is a simple and yet handy tool for researching keywords and relevant conversations on these two giants among social media sites.

Twitter

4. TwitterSearchis one of the best tools for tracking your terms in real time on one specific social site. Not only that, Twitteradvancedsearch lets you search tweets by keywords, hashtags, languages, people, location, sentiment and more.

5. TweetScan searches Twitter for keywords. It also displays popular searches. A simple, quick and handy tool.

6. TwitterVenn creates Venn diagrams. Basically, you enter two or three search terms separated by comma. After the data is retrieved, a Venn Diagram is displayed. It shows the tweet frequency per day of each term separately, and the frequency of overlap between and among them. The tool provides insight into the relationship between how words are used within the tweets of all Twitter users.

7. Monitter allows you to monitor a set of keywords on Twitter in real time. You can narrow the search to a particular geographic location, and find out what’s going on in that particular part of the world.

Google Plus

8. GPlusSearch searches Google plus public content. You can search all content for your keywords, posts, profiles or Google Reader only.

On the other hand, the site’s follow feature allows you to easily keep tabs on the competition and other professionals who are using your keywords. Exploring tags beneath every relevant presentation can yield new keyword ideas. You can also easily check which presentations are hot on Twitter, Facebook or Linkedin.

15. Scribd is one of the largest document publishing and sharing communities. Explore who (and how) is using your keywords or brand name in their documents. Find influencers in your niche and connect with them as well as with other relevant users. Content is king and researching keywords on content sharing websites is only logical.

Do you use any of these search tools? If so, please share your experiences and tips!

This is a guest post by Joe Pawlikowski. Should you wish to write for this blog, check out the guest post guidelines.

For most beginning bloggers, it’s a set it and forget it kind of item. Yet in the long run it can be one of the most important decisions any upstart blogger makes. Unless you’re using a free service such as Blogger or WordPress.com — which is not at all recommended — you’ll need to buy a hosting package. Finding one is easy. Many blogs carry ads for them, and others even run coupon codes and other promotions. Finding the right host, however, can be a challenge. It can also have major implications for the future of your blog.

It’s about the future

Most web hosts offer introductory packages that will work well for almost any beginning blogger. You can shop around for prices and features, but a large number of them will fall into the same range. That might make the decision seem easy. With so many choices, it’s hard to go wrong. So most bloggers pick one based on a recommendation, either from a friend or another blogger, and forget about it.

This is a huge mistake.

You expect your blog to grow, right? As your blog grows, your hosting needs will change. No longer will you be able to sit on the basic shared hosting plan and pay $5 to $10 per month. You might end up paying 20 to 50 times that amount, depending on how big your blog grows. If you’re paying that much, don’t you want to ensure that you’ll get the best possible product?

The idea is to keep the future in mind when selecting a hosting package. If you expect your blog to grow, and you want to ensure that you’ll have the greatest level of support when it does, you’ll need to be discerning when it comes to your web host.

Why you don’t want to move

If you grow dissatisfied with your host as your blog grows, you can always switch hosts. But while that might sound easy, it is anything but. Switching hosts is both a technically intensive and potentially expensive proposition. It should only be a last resort, used only when your current host simply cannot, or will not, meet your needs.

Why is it a pain to switch hosts? It’s not as though you’re transferring files from your own computer to a new remote server. You’re taking something that exists on your hosts data centers and moving it to a new set of data centers. You also need the technical savvy to make such a move. If you don’t have it, then you have to pay someone else to do it. Either way, you either spend a lot of time learning how to do it yourself, or you spend a considerable amount of money for someone else to do it.

The solution, of course, is to find the right host on the first try. How do you do that?

Finding the right host

Research is the key to finding a great host. Going with a host just because it’s cheap, or it had a coupon code, or you heard one person say something great about them, is a terrible idea. It’s a surefire way to get set up with the wrong host, which you will regret later. There are two main ways I recommend finding a host that can work for you.

1. Talk to other bloggers. Find blogs that have a good-sized readership and email them. Ask them about their hosting experiences. Do they like their current one? Have they ever switched? Do they have any first-hand recommendations? Take note of all of these.

2. Search for hosts local to you. The problem with hosts that advertise on various blogs is that they’re seeking volume. They want the greatest sheer number of customers — hence their advertisements on popular blogs. That might not be right for you, though. They might have attractive introductory packages, but if you want to grow you’ll look beyond that. A local host might have hosting options that fit your needs much better. You won’t see many advertisements, but a few quick google searches will do the trick.

One thing I cannot say strongly enough: do not read online reviews of hosts. There are so many issues with these. First, people are more likely to leave a negative review than they are a positive one. People get mad and they want to vent, so they seek out a web forum. Second, the problem could very well be on the user’s end and not on the host’s end. Third, some hosts undoubtedly leave positive reviews of their own service. Maybe there is some useful information buried in these reviews somewhere, but it’s not worth your time to find out what’s good and what’s inaccurate.

When people start blogs, they want to dive right in. They want to write, and they want to build an audience. But there are important steps that come before any of this. Choosing a host ranks among the most important decisions that any blogger can make. It sounds boring, but it makes a huge difference as your blog grows. Choose poorly and you’re in for huge headaches. Choose wisely and it’s smooth sailing.

I’ve worked in blogging and online marketing for years, and it’s never ceased to amaze me how many veteran bloggers are great writers but aren’t great at business. It seems like almost every time I read a blog, I find a few things that they could do better and make more money. Sometimes, I see basic mistakes like blogs not being optimized for search engines, or ads that are irrelevant to the blog’s audience. That’s why I’m sharing a few ways that you can make money off your blog:

Pay per click banner ads

Pay per click banner ads work well on blogs with lots of readers. They are easy to set up and getting the revenue is easy if you use Google AdSense. AdSense is one of the better banner ad solutions out there because the ads people see on AdSense change depending on what they search for on Google. This is important for bloggers seeking to make money off pay per click revenue because people are a lot more likely to click on ads that are based on their search results. Since Google is the dominant search engine, it has a lot more information on most people’s search habits than competitors like Yahoo and Bing so it’s able to provide better targeted ads.

Newsletters

Newsletters are a good way to communicate with your strongest followers since they keep them interested in your site even if they don’t visit it for a while. This reduces readership drain over time and provides you an opportunity to make money off your blog:

Datamining

You could use the newsletter sign-up form to get people’s email addresses and sell those addresses to advertisers, but this is only worth it if you get lots and lots of emails (think a hundred thousand or more) and they’re very targeted. Otherwise, you’ll just lose your readers’ trust and flood their inboxes with spam that you’re not even getting paid for since the spammer already paid you for their information.

Affiliate programs

When you go to a general practitioner for medical care and she refers you to a specialist, the she usually gets a cut off whatever you pay the specialist. This is also common in the law industry; for example, a lawyer specializing in insurance might get a call about family law, and he refers the call to a family law lawyer and gets a flat referral fee or a percentage of whatever the family lawyer makes.

Online affiliate marketing works in almost exactly the same way: People who sell things (confusingly called both “merchants” and “advertisers” in the affiliate marketing industry) will pay site owners to direct people to their sites. When those people sign up for a trial, register their information, or buy a product, the website owner who directed them gets a cut or a flat amount. Some affiliate programs are for subscriptions and the website owner gets a cut of each monthly subscription payment. Other subscription programs only pay an amount based off the first month’s subscription, but this amount sometimes exceeds the first month’s subscription.

Learn more ways to make money blogging

I hope you’ve learned a few things about how to monetize your blog, but don’t stop here.

This is a guest post by Maitreyee Sinha. Should you wish to write for this blog, check out the guest post guidelines.

To convert visitors into clients, paying attention to certain aspects of your website is critical. Convince people by offering samples of your product/services/work. Including client testimonials in your site can be a great idea as well.

The main purpose of a website is to increase profit rates of the company. Sometimes, a site receives huge traffic. Unfortunately, this traffic does not convert into paying clients, thus affecting business goals of the company. The best way to deal with this situation is to evaluate the site and implement certain changes.

Use powerful call-to-action statements

Many people ignore this particular aspect of website design. The result is that visitors do not feel compelled to act. This in turn, interferes with the targeted profit rate of the company.

Include powerful call-to-action statements in the website. Opt for colorful call-to-action buttons, increase their sizes – do whatever it takes to grab attention of the visitors.

Evaluating the site from point of view of visitors can be a good idea. Do they receive a clear call-to-action statement, as soon as they land at the site? Does this statement encourage visitors to opt for a clear action (for example buying a product, filling up a feedback form, or signing up for newsletters)? Honest answers to these questions will help you to redesign your site correctly.

Offer samples

If you want to convert visitors into paying clients, you have to convince them that your company can solve their problems. Lure visitors by offering them free products or services. This will encourage them to try out your products/services. If you are a web design professional, you can convince them by placing your work samples within the website.

Incorporate attractive content

To convince visitors that you are serious about building relationships with them, develop valuable content. Offer them good information. Ensuring that the articles do not contain spelling or grammatical errors is critical as well. Break down the content into small paragraphs, so that it is easier to read and interpret.

Opt for interesting images

To create a positive impression, use interesting images in your site. However, placing them blindly will not be effective. Rather, ensure that these images complement the purpose of your site.

Use a neat layout

A neat web layout is pleasing to the eyes and creates a professional image of the company. You may argue that placing more ads in the site can bring in greater revenue. However, this is a wrong concept. Incorporating more advertisements in the site will irritate the visitors and harm your reputation in the long run.

For best results, avoid over-stuffing your site with excessive content, design, or ads. Opt for a clean layout and allow visitors to explore the site smoothly.

Pay attention to the contact page

If you are looking for clients, paying attention to contact page is important. Make it easier for your prospective clients to find and contact you. Offer your contact information in details, so that clients can choose their preferred mode of getting in touch with you.

Incorporate testimonials

Encourage visitors to trust you by placing client testimonials in your site. You can also include contact information about your past clients, so that people can crosscheck the given information.

Social media marketing is critical

Social networking sites allow companies to connect with current and potential clients on a personal level. Show visitors your real persona by connecting them at social networking sites. Encourage them to join you at these sites by placing feeds and links in your website.

This is a guest post by Keith Ong. Should you wish to write for this blog, check out the guest post guidelines.

In whatever trade of business you are in, a good reputation is something that you should keep in mind in order to make sure that your business grows. Email marketing is one of the strategies you can use to keep in touch or share information with your readers or customers and the way you manage this strategy will help you in growing your blog/business if you do it the right way.

Let us share with you some cool nice tips you can use to build a good reputation for your blog or business if you are using email marketing.

Find A Reliable Email Auto-Responder

A reliable email auto-responder can always make sure that they are online most of the time to let you blast out your email any time you like. Moreover, if the company’s reputation is good, you can be sure that your emails will get delivered to your subscribers’ Inbox most of the time.

Always Remember To Start Fresh

There are bloggers who like to start off email marketing with buying a pre-gathered email list and import into the database. This is pretty much like ruining your reputation for a start since the recipients never agree to subscribe to you in the first place which look pretty much like you are spamming them.

Adopt Double Opt-In

Using double opt-in while gathering your email list works pretty much like getting a confirmation from your subscribers that they truly agree to receive emails from you. Though this may slower down your rate of gathering but it will reduce the amount of spam complaints the next round you blast out your emails.

Add Your Email Address To Address Book

I have seen the most successful online website which I have subscribed to, has had their emails landed up in my Spam folder. This could be due to many different reasons, but the safest way to ensure that your emails sent to your subscribers always get delivered to their inbox is to ask them to add your sender email address to their address book.

Check Your Email Content Before Sending Out

Most companies usually practice spell-check on their content but not “spam-check”. Spend a good few minutes to look out for sensitive keywords in your subject and content e.g. free, holiday, contest etc. Avoid using them unless you really have to do so.

In addition, avoid email content that has less than 200 words. Try to write more so that it looks less spammy too.

Give Them A Chance To Opt Out

There is always a saying that if you truly love someone, you should set them free. This applies to email marketing too. If you like your subscribers to stay with you long; let them choose to opt out if they no longer like to subscribe to you. But that doesn’t stop you from gathering them back to opt-in again.

Keep Your Content Fresh and Surprising

What’s more dull than receiving emails from someone everyday which says “good morning”, “how are you” etc. Keep your content fresh and unique everyday so that your subscribers can look forward to receiving emails from you again. Give them surprises every once a while so that they will feel excited and looking forward too.

Email marketing with a healthy email list will help you greatly in your marketing for your online and offline businesses. Let’s practise these tips today.

Your landing page is the front door of your store; the main thing that customers will use to decide whether or not to continue and buy something or whether they will head off to another site. Landing pages run a fine line between enticing people and giving enough information to be trustworthy.

Although many people think of landing pages’ main theme being that of enticement, their hidden (and far more important) goal is to establish a sense of trust between the customer and the business. Customers who trust a business are far more likely to do regular and consistent shopping there than at a business where this trust has not been established. Now, of course, some of this will happen by you keeping your site free from viruses and having security up, but the rest has to happen in your landing page.

It does not matter at the end of the day how wonderful your flash banner ads were or how enticing your articles on other sites are. What it all boils down to is how much trust your landing page garners. That’s a pretty heavy burden, so how can you pull it off?

1. Your Real Address

This is always a trust builder. If you’re willing to put your physical address on your site, it means that you are willing to remain more or less transparent and that you are a real person with a real business, not some scammer.

Whether it’s an office, the location of your parent store, or somewhere else, a physical address is necessary to build trust. And if you are worried about being swamped, don’t be. There is absolutely no way to tell if someone is coming to you because they learned of your address from your site or not. Mostly, the physical address is just to provide some peace of mind and then most people tend to forget it a few seconds later.

2. Your Phone Number

A local phone number is a good idea if you have a business in the services; that way, people will choose your service over others because your local. The neighbourhood air of trust that still pervades is at work here; people are more likely to hire on someone nearby.

If you don’t want your local number displayed, you can use a mobile phone, a toll phone or your office line and see how that works. It should all be effective and furthermore, gives the customer peace mind because they know that if they call that number, they can contact you directly. This is really a boon for older customers who may not trust the internet and for savvy browsers who know full well that most e-mail goes straight to spam filters.

3. Show off Your Security

Whether you’re secured by McAfee, Norton’s or something else, show it off! Everyone has heard horror stories about their information being stolen or used against them and by showing that you will protect their information, you build trust. These badges are often small too, so they’re not hard to place in clear sight without damaging the overall appearance of your website.

Some examples of Security badges:

Placing your security badge in the check out part of your site is the best place, though putting it on your landing page will also show that you take your security very seriously. Really, putting your badge in both places would not be out of line.

4. What About After the Customer Buys?

There are a few things you can do to ensure trust right away in potential shoppers. Things like a 100% money back guarantee, a secure shopping cart to buy with, and a solid refund/return policy that is simple to follow are all great ways to put a customer’s mind at ease about what happens after they click ‘Buy’.

You should clearly outline things like how long it takes to ship a product, make sure you have an auto-email informing a customer of what they have bought and when it will ship (and even an auto-email that goes out once the item is shipped a la Amazon) and how long they have to do a return and what the policies are for that. It only takes a small paragraph, but laying all this out clearly puts a customer’s mind at ease and prevents potential legal issues later on.

And of course make sure you have a completely secure check-out procedure and that there are a few ways to pay. Popular ones are PayPal and credit card, but some checkouts also allow pay with debit and other options.

5. Post What Others Have Said About You

Real, honest to God testimonials from happy customers are a must. When potential customers see that others have used your services and products and been happy, they are more likely to buy from you see for themselves. Ask your friends and family to test your products or services first and gather early testimonials and then as you get more people, you can replace these ones with ones from customers you don’t know.

6. Privacy Policy

Somewhere in your site (usually at the bottom or on another linked page), you will need your privacy policy. Almost always, this includes the promise not to resell your customer’s information and not to spam your customers or allow others to spam customers. It only has to be a couple lines, usually: Such and such promises we will never sell your private information to a third party and that all of your information will be kept private.

However, many business experts are advising longer privacy policies; once which outline exactly what your business will do to protect the privacy of others and what the customer should expect but is also obligated to do to remain secure. This document is not only important for building trust, but is also a legal form that will outline exactly what the obligations of the company is in regards to privacy and what the obligations of the customer are. It’s a longer process, but it protects everyone.

Conclusion

Establishing trust between the potential customer and your business is incredibly important and something that is often glossed over. The landing page is the main tool of trust building; if the internet user doesn’t feel as though you are trustworthy from your landing page, then he or she won’t buy from you, it’s as simple as that. Therefore, your landing page should not just the place where you talk about your product or services and why you are better than everyone else, but also a place where you establish that you are a secure business that is fully deserving of trust from even the most suspicious web browser.

With a little more than a day to go, we will wave 2011 goodbye and open up our hands to welcome 2012. In the past couple of days, i bet you must have read bloggers talking about their resolutions for 2012, a roundup of their best post in 2011 and what you need to do to create a better blog in 2012.

Sorry to disappoint you a bit, i won’t be doing a roundup, talking about my resolutions or prepare any blogging tips for you. In fact you should have read enough to know what’s your goals are and how you are going to achieve that for the brand new year.

A decent 2011 for me

2011 has been a decent year for me in terms of blogging. I normally don’t set goals for Findmyblogway as i see this as a hobby which brings me enjoyment and satisfaction. I certainly don’t see blogging as a source for revenue(at least for now). I don’t expect you to be like me. If you seriously want to make it big online, set achievable goals and plan your strategy to meet them.

This blog is allowed to evolve slowly every now and then. Compared to 2010, my traffic has tripled without me doing any guest posting or being active in social networking. So i am actually taking the step forward. Google has been my best friend so far, the reason i am seeing an constant numbers in the traffic stats. From a PR0 to a PR4 blog, the big G has been kind to me in 2011.

As a result, i am seeing a lot of guest posting request which i have to reject a few. I am controlling the amount of guest post as i don’t want you to be welcome by a guest author every time rather than me when you visit Findmyblogway. However, in the next two months, you will probably be seeing less of me and more guest author in Findmyblogway. Do not worry, i am not quitting just yet. Blogging at Findmyblogway is still one of my favorite hobby.

Personal changes in early 2012

The reason is i will be tied up probably until end of February because of two personal changes in my life.

1) My family will be welcoming a new member soon. Next month will see the arrival of my 2nd child, probably in a week or two. He is a little prince. So Alvan has a little brother soon.

2) I am in the process of shifting flat in February. While waiting for the keys to my new flat, i will be denying internet access as i will be staying in my mom’s place for three weeks.

My blogging time has cut short since April as my wife has been complaining i spent too much time in blogging. With the arrival of my 2nd child, i bet the time allocated for blogging is limited even further. This is a sacrifice that i am willing to make. I promise i will try my very best to reply any queries or comment you might have and i will not stay away for too long.

Facebook and Twitter will be my two main communication channel for the next two months. I will keep you undated when my baby boy arrives in this world. Be sure to follow or friend me for the latest updates. Alternatively you can email me using the contact page but it will probably take a longer time for me to reply.

Looking forward to 2012

Are you looking forward to 2012? I know i am. Just the thought of witnessing a new life arriving is simply awesome. I guess none can be compare to the happiness of carrying a newborn baby in our hands. Before i keep on going non-stop, i like to thank everyone for your awesome support. My bloggers friends, readers and guest bloggers, life would have been much much boring without you. Thank you.

All the best in 2012 and Happy New Year!
