Finding your blogging groove after a long break is not easy. If you have taken a break from blogging and decided to make a comeback, you know exactly what I am talking about.

You are starting from a clean slate now. What is done is already done. Let bygones be bygones. All you can do is learn the lessons from the incidence and move on. There is no point in lamenting about it; is there?

I decided to write this post so that I can help the fallen bloggers who are really wanting to make a comeback. I know I needed some help, motivation wise, while going through some tough times recently. So, I hope this post is going to provide help and inspiration to the ones that truly need it.

Furthermore, I wanted to write this for findmyblogway because this article couldn’t be any place better than here; where everything is depicted about finding our own individual blog ways.

So, jumping to the meat of the post here;

How motivated are you for a comeback?

Motivation is the key in everything, even a blogging comeback. Frankly, there is no point in trying to make a comeback if after couple of months you are going to lose your MOJO and disappear again.

Without major motivation it would be hard to get that blogging thingy going again. It would be hard to get the writing groove back. Small number of comments in your blog, compared to what you once got, isn’t going to be much of a help either.

It can be frustrating but this is the true nature of the reality you are in. However, you want to prove that you are going to repave your blog way.

So how do you do it?

Here are 4 crucial things you need to implement starting from right now to get you going;

1. Get rid of the doubts and carry on:

When you go through tough times in life, naturally you are going to start having doubts. You might doubt that you can’t do it or maybe you are not good enough.

Screw them doubts and have faith. Believe in yourself that you can bounce back stronger than ever before. Find your true motivation. What is the real inspiration behind you wanting to make a comeback?

Remember the saying; what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger! People say it for a reason. Believe that all your plans and dreams are going to come true and work accordingly.

2. Create a schedule and a ‘to do’ list:

I am a big fan of creating a schedule, even though sometimes it is not possible to follow it 100% like we all want to. Over time I have figured out that I need to create a flexible schedule – one that I can easily follow and actually utilize in my daily life to get things done. To bounce back, you need to create a flexible schedule and religiously stick to it; at least try your very best (O:

Moreover, you also need a ‘to do’ list to keep track of all the things you are doing and all the things that need to be done. ‘To do’ list also provides great motivation in accomplishing tasks no matter how big or small they are. And yeah, for bigger tasks, split them into smaller pieces so that it won’t scare the product of Uranus out of you even before you start working on it.

3. Create new relationships and rekindle old ones:

I did mention that it sometimes gets frustrating when you don’t see the comments pour in like it once used to. But it is what it is and there is no crying about it.

Creating new relationships and rekindling old ones is the only way to achieve more plus revive the lost relationships.

Connecting with other bloggers – reading their posts, commenting, connecting on social media outlets, guest posting etc. is a great way to motivate yourself and find new and fresh ideas for your own blog topic. Besides, sharing is caring – It lets them know that you care about their hard work and dedication and they most probably will do the same in return.

4. Read your own blog articles:

One of my greatest motivations (besides my audience) has been my blog itself. Reading what you have already written can really inject the enthusiasm to bounce back stronger than ever.

How often do you delve in your archives and read all the good things you talk about in your blog? There couldn’t be any time more perfect than right now to dig them gold out. Start implementing what you talk about. That is a perfect way to inject the enthusiasm and bounce back with a vengeance.

Well, Like I said above these are the 4 things that will get you going. But you are not going to go anywhere without taking action. I should have included taking action as the first point in the list but I decided to leave the best to the last (O:

Want to add your thoughts and insights?

What are the other things that make this list more complete?

    Hi Adam,

Awesome tips you have provided here. I still remember i took a short blogging break last year and had a hard time trying to get back to blogging ways. Out of four, #4 works best for me as i read back the archives and remember why i am blogging.

    Thanks for the post.

First of all, thank you for publishing the post and the intro Lye. I really appreciate it.

Like you mentioned, reading my own blog posts reminded me of why I started blogging in the first place – to better myself and subsequently the people that I meet in the process (O:

I got just so inspired by this post, “Where there is a will there is a way”. I feel that, now that you’ve made a comeback your performance is going to be more powerful than before. You have a lot to offer to your readers specially the beginners in blogging, they can learn a lot from your experiences.

I had previously taken breaks with blogging and I am can vouch that it is not at all easy to make a come back. You need to make yourself a hell lot motivated. These tips here are gold.

The most important is removing doubts and start. You need to start. too much of planning will make things difficult

    Well, very true my friend.

Too much time spent on planning can eat the actual work time. However, there should be some sort of goals and plans to get there. Big or small, it doesn’t matter. That way we would know if we are heading in the right direction or not. Having said that, plans and goals can change over time but that is perfectly fine.

Thank you for the comments Tushar. You rock man!

Hey Adam, some great tips that work also for those blogs you have sitting around collecting virtual dust while you work on your more “important” ones! :)

I thought I was the only one who did number four. I’m always reading through my old posts for information or motivation!

Hey EL (I hope you don’t mind me calling that)

The thing is the longer the break, the harder would be the comeback. You know, after a break you would loose most of the momentum you have gained. That can be demotivating. If one really wants to make a comeback then they have to first analyze what really motivates them.

Couple of ways could be jotting down why you started a blog in the first place. Or going through what you have already created. This could be very motivating.

      Sophia,

You know what, I just wrote an article on perfection in my blog. What a coincidence that you talked about making a perfect comeback.

I don’t think there is such thing as a perfect comeback. IT is nothing but just doing it as well as you can do in your own terms.

      Thank you for the comments.

I like blogging. I especially like it since I just started hosting my own website. I now have full editorial control and I own my material, not another company. I like it because it gives me my own voice and I’ve gotten to “meet” some really neat people. I do follow some other blogs and enjoy reading what they post. It’s amazing how creative and funny some people are. I’m trying to transition my blogging into an income which would hopefully allow me to stop working for others and focus on writing full time. We’ll see what happens!

      Samantha,

Yes, I agree video blogging is engaging. I have created some videos myself and I know that is the fact. Any-who thanks for reminding me to get back on it.

Blogging is a lot about finding your own knack on creating contents..whether it is writing, videos or podcast or info graph..I hope you will find your knack real soon (O:

      Appreciate the comments.

Getting rid of the doubts and trying to carry on are two of the most difficult process we need to deal with in making everything possible again. And I totally agree with you, its us who could make the difference, by learning to believe in ourselves again.

Starting to blog again would be very difficult especially if a blogger took a long break. Its just he can’t find his/her source of inspiration to write. Like what you’ve said, motivation is the key to have that energy to continue writing a post.
