It’s the time to recap how many visitors we attracted for the month of January for this blog. For those of you who are new to this blog, this is my tradition of sharing the traffic report. I am please with the growth of traffic for last month. We saw an increase of visitors compared to December. I think this is down to two main reason.
1. Interview Patricia Millman from LavenderUses.com
Last month i interviewed Patricia from Lavenderuses.com. She may not be the biggest blogger in the blogosphere but definitely one of the best net-worker. After the interview was published, she took all the efforts to promote the post and inviting her blog friends to visit this blog, commenting in it. Not only there was a surge on visitors, i was also introduced to new bloggers whom i never met before. I would like to thank Pat for the support. Thanks Pat.
2. More traffic from search engine
Last month onwards, i started to see more traffic coming from search engine. That was unintentional. When i crafted my post, i never think of search engine. I just write whatever that comes to my mind. One of my post climb to Google page #1 and attracted 100 over visits till date. Will i concentrate on SEO for my next post? I admit it’s important but i don’t like to write for search engines, it’s people who are the most important consideration for me.
How many visitors do i have?
Lets see the comparison with the traffic from December.
Monthly Visits: 1,400 up from 1,107 (Nov)
Pageviews: 3,366 up from 3,042 (Nov)
Bounce Rate: 52.00% up from 48.69% (Nov)
Absolutely Unique Visitors: 554 up from 423 (Nov)
Alexa Ranking: 123,749 down from 112,144 (Nov)
Subscribers: Currently 35
We are progressing. It is a slow process but i am actually quite happy. I always mention the fact to have people reading my blog is a breeze. To build a successful blog needs a lot of patience and i think i am far too patience. But it’s ok. I am just enjoying the process of writing, interacting and reading other blogs. Have a few bloggers to thank for as they directed some of their visitors to this blogs with the mentions and links. Below is the top 10 traffic source:
1. Tristan Higbee from BloggingBookshelf.com
2. Adam Paudyal from Endeavor-Online.com
3. Alex Whalley from AlexWhalley.com
4. Patricia Millman from LavenderUses.com
Thanks for the support.
The next few days will probably see a drop in traffic as i will not be posting until Sunday. Tomorrow is a big holiday for us as it is the first day of lunar Chinese New Year. We will not be working in first and second day of the new year. Whenever new year arrives, it means reunion time. Today we will be in my parents’ house enjoying the reunion dinner. The next few days will see us visiting relatives, gathering and chit chat about work and life. While travelling, there will be a lot of noise as lion dance troupes will be making all the noise on the road. Kids are extremely happy during this period as they will be getting a lot of “red packets” containing money and well wishes from adults.
I understand most of you do not celebrate Chinese New Year but i would still like to wish you “Happy New Year”.

Happy Chinese New Year Lye!!
Mate I really appreciate these posts because they show genuine transparency and honesty – something that is lacking in the blogging world. WHen all the dust settles, your blog will be getting thousands of hits from up and comers who want to see what the reality of a blogs growth is!
Oh and btw, 460 organic visitors is a really good amount of Search Engine Traffic – that’s like 30% of your traffic mate!
(my SEO traffic never accounts for more than 25% so you are doing well there mate!)
Awesome stuff LYe, oh – and you are welcome for the referrals, but its your fault for putting out good content in the first place.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the well wishes. Part of the reason is to let people know how i do. I hope they will have a guide on the traffic they will attract. If they want to increase more traffic, they need to work harder and do more. No two ways about it.
Thanks for all the support and comments. Really appreciate you taking the time to drop by.

Love transparency and all that jazz Lye. Congrats on your growth man and a Happy New Year my friend. May you have a wonderful time with family and friends.

Good job Lye, you’re on the right path. I think the problem of writing for the search engines vs. writing for humans is misleading. Keep writing for the humans and you’ll do well with Google too.

Hi Aloys,
That’s what i prefer to do. Write for the humans. Ultimately it’s people who are reading.
Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, people may end up giving you backlinks, while the search engines won’t
Keep doing this long enough and the engines will be forced to give you the credit

Apparently the frequency with which you post to your blog affects your monthly traffic a lot. For me it really doesn’t yet as most of my traffic are to my old posts. Guess it’s one of those things with offering full RSS feeds via email

Hi Udegbunam,
There isn’t any intention on the traffic in mind with my posting frequency. I agreed it certainly plays a part on the traffic. Most important is exceptional content.
Thanks for the comment.
