While i was doing my routine SEO check on Findmyblogway, a little surprise welcome me on the screen. My Google Pagerank has climbed from 1 to 3. When Google did an update on their algorithm, Findmyblogway pagerank finally shake off the big zero and turned into one. Within two months, it has climbed to three.
I don’t really give any attention to my Google pagerank as a higher pagerank doesn’t mean my blog is better than anyone else. I also won’t be turning this away as i must be doing something right to gain a higher pagerank. There is no intention from my part to purposely work for a higher pagerank. What could be the reason that my pagerank jumps from 1 to 3 in two months?
The only reason i can only think of is unique content.
It may not be epic shit but it is unique and probably helpful(At least that’s my aim). You can’t find it in other blogs. Some bloggers who may be kind enough to give me some link love because of that. Incoming links is a big factor to obtain a higher ranking.
Just because my blog has a pagerank 3 doesn’t mean it has a high traffic. Neither does it tells you it will help my post climb to page 1 of the search engine. Pagerank is just one of hundres factors to determine your SERPs results in Google.
Does it matter anymore to have a higher pagerank?
I believe it does matter but the importance is diminishing. If it does not matter, Google should just scrap it. This is what Google is telling others how they look on your website. Whether they trust your site and if you have a strong link.
The thing is you don’t have to concentrate on building a high pagerank blog. Why? It does not help in your keyword ranking and traffic. Taking me as an example, i did nothing except publish content here in Findmyblogway and let Google take care of the rest.
Why do you still need a higher pagerank?
You still require a higher pagerank if earning money is your concern. People are willing to pay more for your link if your Google pagerank is not 0. In case you want to sell your site in future, this is one criteria people look for as it determines the authority of your site.

As much as we like to earn money with our blog it is also fun to see FaceBoof likes, Twitter followers, PageRank and Alexa all rank better.

People tend to believe that having a high PR makes them better friends with Google, but the things have to be looked at in reverse.
You need to build a good website to get a high PR, not focus on building a high PR to end up with a good website.

PR still counts, and the battle for a higher PR continues. The strange thing is that Google has updated the PR twice in june and then in july – this is definitely strange. How can you please Google, if I don’t know what it wants.
So, apart from the PR, a quality blog with unique and fresh content will always attract visitors.

As for page rank mattering, I think so. Maybe not as much as before and for different reasons, but definitely something not to be taken lightly.

Google Pagerank does not matters to me. But I still try to maintain in because of advertisers.

I totally agree with this article, sometimes some Internet Marketers having a problem regarding to their website rank, this doesn’t matter at all because we all know that Google keeps on changing the algorithm and that is the main problem. it is better to set aside this matter, and continue your method in raising your website or blog.

Congratulations on that Lye. I know what you mean so whether anyone else, including Google, sees it as important or not, it sure is a great feeling when you see that constantly rise.
Since my blog is a few years old, I had actually gotten it up to a PR4. With this last change it dropped to a PR2. I’m still trying to figure this all out but I can only assume some high ranking sites that were linking to me no longer are. Now it’s already moved up to a PR3. I haven’t done anything different either but continue to write my content. I don’t think I’ll ever figure this all out.
Just happy to see yours continuing to climb. As it should because you share some good stuff over here my friend. Just keep up the excellent work.

Not particularly excited but as you said, it’s always nice to see my ranking climbing up. It is always lying in 0, to climb a few places in two months is a surprise.
Guess we won’t know what Google is up to. The next update will probably see some change. We don’t have time for that, just concentrate on our blog is more practical.

While I don’t know when the PR of my blog changes, I don’t take too much stock in the effect of the changes.
As you mentioned, the PR value really doesn’t have much of an effect on search engine traffic, so worrying about the value isn’t worth it.
I agree that a higher PR value is important for selling advertising, as many advertisers will look for sites with a higher PR, even through the traffic may not be high.

Hey thank you for the tips on page rank and unique content. Well as you said if the page rank was crap then Google would scrap it off…I would desire to check on my rank not only because I want monetary returns but to see if my hard work is paying off..just like you.
