It’s very common to find somebody saying this phrase “This topic is not new, i have seen it somewhere” or rather “Why are you repeating the topic, you are not the expert”. How do you feel when you hear these? Are you discouraged by these comments? This is especially common in the blogging niche. For a new blogger entering into a niche that is saturated, most likely whatever you can think of. The topics has been covered by the A-Lists bloggers in your respective niche.
Are You Forgetting the “You” Factor?
Does this ever came across your mind since the topics are being covered by the authority and the A-List bloggers, well i need to avoid writing this because i can never write better than them. I am sorry to tell you your blog will never take off if you have this kind of mentality.
The authority bloggers started out as a blog rookie too. Even though the competition few years ago may not be as strong as now but they are certainly not taking things for granted. They put in their hard work, they learn to provide value, they are patient and they do not give up easily.
No, i am not trying to elaborate the traits of an A-List blogger here. What i want to get the point across is if they can do it, why shouldn’t you? They are humans same as you. They are not born to know blogging naturally. They don’t have any supernatural powers. They had to go through some tough learning curves when they start to blog. So why do you think you couldn’t be like them?
Sure they are unique in their own ways. But have you forgotten your “YOU” factor? You are unique too. They wrote a post on a particular topic in their own voice and it’s really a good post. That doesn’t mean you can’t write on the same topic. The post you wrote represent your thoughts on the topic and your own voice. You can never write like them but likewise they can never produce something that comes from you.
They are successful because they have the ability to create an impact and influence a lot of people at the same time. Your own unique voice should have your own fair share of supporters too. As long as you keep on maximize your “You” factor, i believe you will see your readership growing bigger and bigger as days goes by.
How Do You Maximize Your ‘You” Factor?
What should you do to maximize the “You” factor? There are 4 easy ways to do it.
- Be Bold
Learn how to have a different opinion. Have you ever challenged the theory of bloggers that you respected? Are you always a yes man? Whatever they write on every posts, you tend to agree what they say. If you have a different opinion, are you bold enough to voice it out? Be it in a post or in the comments box, you should voice it out and i believe all bloggers welcome different opinions.
- Be perseverance
You need to believe in yourself. Who else would if you don’t. Stick to your own principle. Write whatever you think and do not try to copy others just because they are popular. Perseverance is key in finding your “You” factor.
- Be unique
You don’t have to always follow. Sometimes you need to think of leading. Think of what is unique for you to explore on and work towards that. If you can achieve that, you will be leading instead of following.
- Be True
Be true to yourself. If you are a humorous person, you don’t have to hide your humor inside your posts. Write according to your personality. Find the true “You” factor will touch on your readers naturally.
Conclusion
There are many important elements associated with blogging. Some people may say it’s design. Others may say it’s your readers and many other more. They are only half correct. The most important element in blogging is “You”. You decide how your blog is going to be. You decide how many readers you are going to attract. You decide how often your blog needs updating. You decide how your blog is going to start and end. “You” is the most important factor in blogging.
Wrap Up
I am interested to find what you got to say about this. Have you got your “You” factor with you? How do you maximize the “You” factor? Please kindly share with us and don’t hesitate to have a different opinion.

Hi Lye
This is very thought provoking. Thank you for writing this.
I’m never one to do what every one else is doing and I always try to inject my personality into all my posts and comments. If I disagree with something I’ll will say so.
You are right Lye the most important thing in blogging is the ‘you’ factor: our own unique personality and style is the one that can make us stand out in a saturated niche.

Hi Lye,
I luv this line: “The most important element in blogging is “You”. ”
Truer words haven’t been spoken when it comes to blogging advice. Embrace your individuality for it’s THE key to success. As you noted A List bloggers started where each blogger starts: as a beginner. They spoke from their heart and persisted to reach the A list.
Thanks for sharing your inspiration.

Hi Samuel,
I am glad that you agree with me. Thanks for your support bro.
Every person has the capacity for greatness. The problem however is their lack of faith. Every factor you have mentioned are simple yet powerful. If we truly understand and incorporate this on our methods, success will be inevitable.

Hi Walter,
Great to meet you. You are right, most importantly we do not want to lose belief and confidence if we want to be successful.
Thanks for dropping by and the comments. Talk soon.
What a great post. I so agree that we should be ourselves. I love visiting new bloggers blogs and watch them grow in confidence with their writing and interacting with the blogging community. I am fairly new to blogging and one of the things I am learning is that I need to have a blog that I own and not try to be something I am not.

One of the things I make sure I do is answer every comment on my site and visit the blogs of the commenters and comments on their blog too.
I also research for answers if I am asked a question that I don’t have the answer to. I think our visitors to our site appreciate honesty and that although we are blogging in a particular niche; we are not the authority in our niche….yet
