Excuse me, i am talking to you. Why are you ignoring me? I am sure you have encountered this before in your blogging endeavor. It’s common at times to find you are being snubbed by other bloggers. It can be in any form such as ignoring you in comments, tweets, facebook, guest post, JV and email.
What would you do if you are being ignored? For sure, you will feel bad, sad, frustrated or even angry when:
- Your comments go unnoticed
- Your email to someone go weeks without reply
- Your guest post is being rejected
- Your call to action has no answer
Is that the end of the world?
Yes the feeling will be sour but you shouldn’t let any of this affects you especially in blogging. If you continue to let the bad feelings grow, you will lose confidence, motivation and even desire to continue.
So,What If You Are Being Ignored
I only have three words for you. “No big deal”
I tend to see bloggers as busy people. The luxury of working from home doesn’t seem so comfortable as it seems to be. You have to take care of other things in your life. You need to prioritize which task brings you the best result with your time spent.
To spend every minute replying to comments, emails and scanning of request is almost impossible especially for big bloggers. Take a look at this post The Dark Side of Successful Blogging by Pat Flynn and you will have a better understanding.
You need to adjust your mentality
Don’t think that every of your comment need to be reply by other bloggers. In the first place why are you commenting? To gain backlinks and exposure or because you want to voice your views on that particular post. If it’s the latter, I don’t see why you should be so upset if there is no reply from the blog owner.
Why, Why is my guest post rejected? Probably your post is still not good enough or your voice is not suitable. Whatever it is, does it mean that’s the end of your post? Blogger A rejects your guest post doesn’t mean blogger B, C, D or even E will reject it unless your post is real crap.
To get rejected is just part of life
Do you always get accepted when you go go for your job interview? Have you ever be rejected by a girl before? Likewise to be ignored by other bloggers is just part of life. There shouldn’t be any hard feelings harbored in you.
If you can accepted being ignored or rejected in other aspects of your life, then i don’t see any difference when it comes to your online activities.
Have an open mind
We should never say never while we are still alive and kicking. Even if you are ignored in any form, don’t harbor any ill feelings towards the other blogger. Who knows both of you will cross path once again. Keep the door open and i won’t be surprise if the blogger who ignores you will say “Hello” to you at some time.
Learn to accept and move on. Keep trying and i don’t believe you will be ignored all the way.
Lets hear what you have to say.
How do you feel when you are being ignored?
What would you do?
Leave us a comment and lets talk about it.

Thank you, Lye.
You’re absolutely right: rejection is just another part of life. Author-hopefuls can receive dozens upon dozens of rejection letters from publishers and agents as they hone their craft. Giving up because of it is quitting in the middle of the game. A lot of authors say they felt bad, kept working at it, and after a while began to regard those letters as a badge of honor, as a sign of membership into the wider world of published authors.
The same can be said of bloggers. Chalk it up to more experience. You’re not th only one to be rejected or ignored on occasion! Thanks again. =)

Hi Sam,
There are times when we gain some and lose some. It’s all part of life. As long we don’t indulge on the bad ones and just remember the good ones, think we will be more happier.
Thanks for the comment.

Hello Lye,
It really should be no big deal, but nevertheless it’s really hard to remember that while in the process of being ignored. Good post on an issue that’s relevant to all of us.

Hi Riley,
It’s human nature to feel bad, we just have to remember not to harbor any ill feelings.

Even in life when i get ignored i become louder, if i still get ignored then i move on, but I continue focusing on my goals.
It’s only normal that some people will like your blog, and some won’t. If the latter are your target then learn from your experiences and try to adjust the content.

Hi Mia,
To focus on what we are doing and forget about other ignoring takes a little effort.
We can’t control what others will do but we need to make sure we do not make that kind of mistake.
Thanks for the comments Mia.

Lye,
I do have some mixed feelings about this.
One one hand you are 100% right. Some rejection is part of life. Accept it.
ON the other hand I also have strong feelings about replying. I think it is basic politeness to have some sort of reply to all commentators.
Obviously there IS a break-over point where this becomes very difficult. Maybe after 100 comments. But for those people with 15-20 comments who do not take the time to thank (at least the majority) of their commentators I do find it sort of rude.
It is a tough thing. I know I sometimes reply late, occasionally miss replying altogether, b ut I think having the potential to have a dialogue is ESSENTIAL to a blog.
A website is for simply spitting out information, a blog is supposed to have some degree of interaction and it is important to take some effort to make people feel comfortable.
Of course …like you say. Missing ONE reply isn’t something anyone should take personally. There is SO MUCH stuff to do with running a blog. Things can get overlooked.
Just my 2 cents

Hi Steve,
I understand your take. This is what we are doing for our site as we respect each and every visitor so they won’t feel neglected by us.
On the other hand, there are bloggers who do not practice this for whatever reason they have.
We just have to make sure we give each visitor a shout when they are here. And if we are ignored, we just smile and move on.
Thanks for the awesome comment mate.

In our life we can’t always accept success every time, there will be time when you see defeat or you won’t be able to do anything correctly. So the best thing one can do is keep try…. that’s what matters. Remember failure is a step towards the success as you can learn from your failure what you’re lacking.

Hi Riya,
If we are request something or need a favor, we need to keep trying and not giving it up. If others do not value us as a visitor then i think its better for us to move on.
Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Hello, Lye,
I don’t have much problems about being ignored, if it happens during blogging experience. I find ignoring to be annoying and I recognize it as a sign of disrespect only when it’s taking place right into my face, in personal, live, one on one contact. I still can’t believe there are people that are so unpolite to just walk away from you when you are explaining something, or pretending they do not hear you when you want to express yourself. It’s a thing of decency and manners.

Hi Kristina,
Whether it’s online and offline, we expect people to show us some respect. I mean if we expect some respect, we should learn how to respect others.

Hi Adnan,
Most blogger starting out will do that, just as one gain more success, their hands will be tied and they feel it’s a waste of time to reply comments.
We should always remember it’s our readers who help us make it there.
Thanks for the comments.

I don’t really get touched by this kind of events. There will always be someone to ignore me, someone to reject my guest post, someone to ignore my mail, etc.
So why should i care and get stressed? I try to analyze the possible reasons and fix them if it’s my fault. Then i get over it. There are more important things in life than thinking about why others don’t like me/my work.

I also think it is no big deal if you are being ignored by some of the bloggers. I admit being ignored does not give you the best feeling but then sometimes this just happens and we can not do anything about it.
