I was invited to join Triberr at the invitation of Brankica back in April which i appreciated as it does bring me extra traffic to my blog. I can see there is a slight increase on the visitors count since every member in my tribe is tweeting the post whenever i publish a new post. I am a member in Brankica’s tribe and i also become a tribal chief by inviting three fellow bloggers into my tribe. Altogether i have twelve tribemates tweeting my post once my post is published.
I thought the Triberr concept is cool. Everything is working fine up until i heard about some tribe members starting to switch off automatic tweeting which i have plenty of disagreements regarding this move.
This is How Triberr Works
First of all, what is Triberr? You are invited to a tribe and become a member. Once you publish a post, every member in the tribe will automagically tweet your post to their followers. Likewise, you are tweeting the other members’ post when they publish a new one. Simple as that and this is how Triberr works.
I know you have your reason in switching to manual tweeting. Probably you are seeing some benefits or probably you need to answer to your followers. The BIG question i want to ask is why do you have to join Triberr if you are not willing to follow what it does, that is automagically tweeting post inside your tribe. I really don’t see the point at all.
You Are Not Showing Respect
Maybe i sounded harsh but i felt that way. If you are using manual tweeting in Triberr, you are not showing respect to the tribal chief or the other members.
If you want to start a tribe, normally you will invite blogger who has similar niche with you or people whom you have good relationships with. I don’t know how you feel when you see manual tweeting from your members but i don’t feel respected at all.
If you want to be a member in any tribe, most likely you buy the concept of Triberr and wish to benefit from it by gaining more exposure. When you are in, you need to show respect to the tribal chief as he/she has the right to invite anyone in before or after you. Just because there are some blogs you don’t visit or you think their content is crap, there is no right for you to stop tweeting the post. You are part of the tribe my friend.
Manual Tweeting Crashes With the Tribal Concept.
To be honest, i don’t understand why there is an option to switch off the automatic tweeting because it crashes with the original concept of Triberr. The switching to manual tweeting diminish the purpose of Triberr and poses a big question mark whether you need to become a member in a tribe.
Should i have my way, i would have got Dino or Dan to abandon the manual tweeting option.
The reason why Triberr can build such a big following is because people buy the concept. If you do not want to tweet the post of the other members, why are you in Triberr?
If you decide you need to read every post before you tweet it so as to answer to your followers, you don’t have to be in Triberr. This is precisely what you are doing everyday with you reading other people’s feeds. You find it, read it and tweet when you think it’s worth for sharing. Triberr doesn’t work that way, you will need to tweet every post of other members in your tribe. Full stop.
Conclusion
These are the reason why i would never switch to manual tweeting in my two tribes. I didn’t see any decrease in my Twitter followers because of me tweeting my tribe member’s post nor i receive any email that the post i tweet are crap. For me, the belief is very straightforward. If you are in, you need to tweet else you can leave the tribe.
What do you have to say about this?
If you are in Triberr, are you switching to manual tweeting? Tell us your reasons.
Great to have some nice discussion regarding this.

Hi Lye,
Your point is valid, if you’re in triberr then you must tweet others people as well or else there is no need to be on triberr.

I was also invited by my friend to triberr. But I was inactive there, so they removed me. Can anybody send me an invite?

Hello Lye Kuek Hin. I just LOVE automation (to an extent) and think Triberr is swell. It’s just so hard to get into. But I think it’s a great concept.

Hi Patricia,
It is by invitation only. You can actually scan through the categories and look for niche that is similar with you and request for an invitation to get in.
Thanks for the comments.

Hi Lye,
Hmmm, what’s interesting is how people have different perspectives on the same thing. Ironically Brankica just recently switched to manual tweeting.
I don’t there’s a right or wrong answer here. I think it boils down to your preference and what works for you.
For example, I’m in a tribe that has a lot of members and MOST of them produce quality content. And it’s not always relevant to my industry and that’s OK.
However, there a few that are not only non-relevant, but I noticed produce, for lack of a better (or nicer) word sub-standard posts. Do I leave the tribe because of it? I could I guess. But then I’m not contributing to (or being contributed to) the other tribe members by doing so.
It’s a tricky situation because I totally get your argument… yet I don’t think it’s so cut and dry. I do think in this case there are some gray areas… just my two cents.
Thanks for your honest view on the situation. It’s great to read two sides of a story.
Ciao!

Hi Michele,
I can see Brankica have switched to manual and understand her reasons for doing so. She is highly affected by some members in her tribe using manual tweeting.
You are right. There is no right or wrong answer here. I am giving my opinion in people using manual option in Triberr. I don’t see there is any gray areas over here but i respect everybody has the right to do what they think is best for them.
For me i will still be tweeting as long as i am in the tribe.
Thanks for the awesome comment. Always love to hear from you.

Hi Lye,
I also am using triberr and have seen an increase of traffic from twitter since using it.
I didn’t even know that we could manually turn off the automatic retweet option.

Hi Justin,
Triberr does help in increasing traffic that’s why i am bothered by people turning to manual.

Hi Lye,
It’s been a while buddy…your blog looks great!
I have my own tribe. Called RBs Keys…lol. Seriously, I like networking on my own, tweeting whatever I find appropriate, and leaving value-packed comments.
Triberr is an awesome concept, if everybody sticks to the rules. Once members begin to pick and choose whose content to share, you might as well leave the tribe, because you aren’t fulfilling your duties.
I like to give with no strings attached. The you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours approach works very well, until 1 person stops scratching.
I’ll scratch your back; don’t worry about mine….the Universe has my back
Thanks for sharing your experience Lye!

Hi Ryan,
It’s great to see you buddy. I always admire your networking skills and know you fully understand the strategy of networking.
If you start your own tribe, then the people you invited in should be someone you know or you like their blog. I don’t think there is any issue in people switching to manual.
I have one of my own tribe. My members have been tweeting and i am really please with that.
Thanks for dropping by Ryan. Appreciate your support.

Hi Lye,
I totally agree with you in spirit. In practice, people want options, so we gave it to them.
If I had my way, people would join tribes ONLY if they really wanted to tweet everyone else’s posts regardless if their posts got tweeted, alas, thats not always the case, so we’ve build options bloggers can choose as they see it fit with their strategy.
Bottom line, it doesnt matter. Twitter tribes have been a great training ground for much bigger things that are coming down the pike

Hi Dino,
Great to hear you giving some of your thoughts. Triberr is a cool concept and i love it. Just as Ryan mentioned, if everybody stick to the rules, it is fantastic.
Since the option is there, i understand there is a tendency for people to choose what they prefer. I don’t understand why they want to do it though if they become a member.
Thanks for stopping by and the comments.

I haven’t seen an increase in any traffic using this so I’m not 100% sold just yet.

Hi Barry,
I guess in order to see full benefits, you need to be in a very strong tribe with a lot of followers. However in order to get the invitation, networking and relationship matters a lot.
Thanks for the comments.

Hi Lye,
I guess for some people that works and they don’t mind switching to manual tweeting in Triberr. I have heard about this one, at first I got interested in joining but as curious as I am, I have to do some research first to know what benefits I am going to get. Hmm, still deciding.
Twitter: Findmyblogway
Hi Jasmine,
It’s better to join a tribe with similar niche as you. People switch to manual tweeting mostly because they do not want to tweet post in other niches.
Thanks for the comments.
Lye
Lye, I understand your point and agree with you!
You say why did someone join Triberr if they won’t automatically tweet other people’s stuff.
I joined Triberr as one of the first ones and tweeted everyone’s stuff for a long time.
If Triberr stayed the way it was, I would never switch. Heck, there would not be a switch button.
But since Triberr changed (which I don’t like) I had to change my strategy as well. It is called development. The service obviously changed its stand point when it allowed manual tweeting and voting, so why would I stay the same.
I was affected by members I didn’t chose to be in the same tribe with. Do I leave the tribe because of it? No, because there are still people I like in those tribes. So I had to switch because there are posts I would never tweet to my followers.
It is a valid but a bit weird stand point here, because when you first joined Twitter, or Facebook or any other service out there, I am sure there were times when you decided you needed to change the way you use it.
My tribe mates are benefiting more since I switched to manual and as long as there are people who aren’t tweeting my stuff, I won’t be automatically tweeting other streams. This is where that back scratching comes in.

Hi Bran,
I fully understand your reason behind the switch as i read your post about the strategy change in Triberr.
I have to agree with the “Development” theory. When the tribe gets too big, different people from different niches are in the same tribe. People tends to make the decision to switch to manual.
It’s no longer logical to tweet other’s post while your post is not getting tweeted.
Really appreciate dropping by to share your views. Thanks for the comments.

Switching to manual in a program like Triberr is pointless. But let’s not forget, people are people, there will always be one or two that break the “rules” without thinking.

It’s hard to decide if I’ll go for manual tweeting or automatic tweeting. If I go for manual tweeting, it looks like that I’m not cooperating with my triberr network. On the other hand, automatic tweeting, there’s no way for me to protect my followers on twitter. Either way may cause a problem if not done properly.

Hi Greg,
Its either way. You just have to decide which one benefits you more. If you have to use manual tweeting, its better that you pull out of the tribe.
Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, you’re absolutely right. I’d rather get out of the tribe than put both parties in trouble. Anyway, there are lots of ways to expand our networks and market our posts.

How does one go about joining Triberr?
