Yes my traffic report is back. I missed two months updates because i switched to getclicky for web analytics. Getclicky is good if you want to have a real time monitoring to analyse and keep track of your web traffic.
So far it’s great experience trying out different analytical tools as i have been using Google Analytics all the time. One of the main advantages is to monitor real time visitors so you can have an insight which pages attract the most page views or where your visitors come from. Do take note not to let this become a distraction for you if you keep logging in to look at your stats.
Have you tried using Getclicky before? What do you think of it?
Switching Back to Google Analytics
One simple reason, if i need to check the traffic stats in April, i need to upgrade to the premium version. By default, the free option allows you to monitor 30 days prior to the current date. Sure it has additional features that other tools do not have but i don’t actually need it. What i need is simply to know where my visitors from and how they land upon my site.
Record Visitors in May
I saw the highest number of visitors in May and that was very encouraging. Don’t let the high numbers fool you. I have yet to achieve 10,000 visitors on this site. My monthly visitors is around 1300+ (I will post the stats later) There are two important factors that contributed to this.
1. Search engine traffic
One of my post 50 Great Blogs That You Should Read and Subscribe is(till now) the most visited post in May. Majority of the traffic comes from search engine when people Google search “Great Blogs”
Everyday there are people looking for great blogs to read. I typed the terms “Great Blogs” and realized that this post ranks #4 in page 1.
It seems this is a popular term. No matter what niches are you in, i encourage you to compile a list of blogs that you follow or read and introduce them to your readers. Not only you will receive some incoming links, the bloggers whom you include may pay a visit to your blog too.
2. Stumbleupon
I don’t really have much luck on Stumbleupon but i have been seeing visitors arriving at my blog recently due to this post, 14 Type of Blog Post to Intrigue Your Visitors. I believe some of my blogging buddies may have stumble this post, thats’s why it is able to receive around 40 views. Normally i’ll be happy to get a few views. This post also rank well in social voting site Blokube gathering 14 votes.
The wider exposure has lead to more people coming from these Social Media sites and take up a bigger percentage of my May traffic.
4 Main Traffic Sources
Above are my 4 main traffic sources. As you can see direct searches form the biggest traffic source and i am pretty happy about it. This shows people are remembering Findmyblogway as a brand and they are probably my loyal readers. Thank you very much. Visitors from search engine come in 2nd as 286 visitors visit us based on various searches.
Links refer to other blogs or social voting site like Blokube, Bizsugar and Bloginteract which i submit my post to. It brings 196 visitors from all these sites. We also attract a significant number of visitors from social media sites mainly consist of Twitter, Facebook and Stumbleupon.
Number of Visitors
Here is the stats. A total of 1321 visitors visited us in May. A huge increase compare to March or even April. Our monthly visitors stands at around 700-750 range in the previous month. If you ask me what is the strategy resulting in this increase, i would say i never really do anything for the huge increase. What i can say is i wrote a few post which people like to read and post that rank well in Google.
I am not an expert when it comes to SEO. I believe it is the incoming links that cause the post to rank high.
I feel i am not doing enough, in the sense of converting my visitors into subscribers. My subscriber count stands around 40+ which is small compared to the number of visitors. I need to work hard on my content if i want it to be higher. There is no two way about it. No matter what people say, i strongly believe content is what makes you to reach your target.
I don’t really care about my Alexa ranking now. If you are interested to know, my Alexa ranking is 219,643.
I would like to apologize beforehand that my blog commenting has reduced for the past month. After balancing between family and blogging, i try to comment on a few blogs that i follow. I am please that i have better time management now. Nowadays after knocking off, i will spend some time with my son and wife. My computer will be on at a later time which i then read a few blogs and engage in some social activities.
How is your blog traffic in May? If you have done anything that saw an increase in your visitors, please do not hesitate to share with us.
Hope you guys have a great month. Cheers.

Hey Lye,
I just recently found Google Analytics so I have never tried Getclicky. It looks like from the reports you showed that you must be ranking well in the search engines…even though you say you are not an SEO expert but you must be doing something right!!

Hi Lye,
I feel Google Analytics is simple & best tool and of course it’s free.
But I know you can’t find something more better unless you try different things. So I think I should too try Getclicky.

Hi Lye,
I haven’t tried Getclicky but I’ve used StatCounter it’s also a nice tool. It’s a free tool where you can quickly check your daily or monthly visits. I mean you can check almost everything which you can check via Google Analytics.

Hi Sam,
Any tool is fine as long we don’t indulge too much time to look at the stats too frequent. I use statscounter before when i started my first blog using Blogger.

Hey Lye,
Conmgrats on the new record of visitors.
I really like the way you are analysing this information. It shows a wealth of knowledge and whether you know it or not, a lot can learn from what you did here, the way you did it and how you used the information.
Great stuff mate – keep it up.

Heard about GetClicky before from Donna but I still have not used it as CloudFlare, the recent service I am using also provides stats that are useful and integrated with that of Google Analytics. Anyway, technically speaking you have good amount of visitors as your bounce rate is very low and that is excellent. I prefer 100 people spending tie browsing on my blog, than bouncing off in seconds. Keep it up mate….

I am please with stats, that’s why it’s so important to go for quality visitors instead of quantity.
Thanks for the comments mate.

Hi Lye,
I use both getclicky and google analytics. Getclicky is good for seeing micro-stats. In other words, it’s good for seeing which post is popular for a day or two. It’s also good for seeing your traffic trends from one day to the next.
Google Analytics is good for seeing an overview of your stats over a broader period of time. So, it’s good for seeing how your blog is trending over a month or two.
I can certainly empathize with you balancing family and the blog. When it comes down to it, family is first. I also cut down on my blog commenting to just a few favorite blogs for the same reason.

Hi Richard,
I will just stick to one for now. That’s what i like about Getclicky too. Able to let you know what time your blog attract the most visitors.
Sometimes we just have to schedule according to our routine but i feel this work best to maximum our results.
Thanks for visiting and commenting.

So far so good in the month of May. I am still looking for other possible ways so that I can increase my traffic from 50 to 100. I am also doing my best so that I can provide quality content to my readers but the result is still the same.
Twitter: Findmyblogway
Hi Raverture,
You may look at your stats and see where most of your traffic comes from. Few areas you can do is commenting, social media and search engines. Sometimes what you need is mainly exposure for your blog.
Thanks for visiting and commenting.

I was using Sitemeter and Google Analytics for 5 months and I am currently testing Getclicky for the last two days. Getclicky looks promising.
